1961 Imperial, formal
black
It is in excellent condition.
Inside it has red
interior with black carpet.
There are stainless steel coves on the landau
roof. Very unusual.
Looks like a limousine, doesn't
it?
Very excessive. Very American!
Another view
That's not a
continental kit.
It came with the car.
The unique deck lid was part of the
"flite sweep" design theme.
Stable in
flight.
Advertising claimed the tail fins helped
stabilize the car at top speed.
The unique pods were referred to as sparrow
strainer tail lights.
The concept was taken from jet engine sparow
strainers.
It was the last year for tail fins. It was also the last year for the designer.
