You walk into the grounds of a
large University, through a gateless entrance framed by two
rising brick 'waves' on either side of the driveway. Tall
evergreens line the drive, and on each side a long, thin,
shady field extends; the drive leads straight into a wide
carpark, beyond which rises the two story building of the
office. Concrete paths from out to either side lead to even
taller buildings, all with the same matte white Plasti-Coat
finish, within which all the schoolrooms are located. The
buildings form a circle around a clear-covered grassy
courtyard, where picnic tables sit under the shade of planted
islands.
As you look around the empty
courtyard, a young woman steps out from behind one of the
islands - (brief description of girl). She beckons you
silently and, curious, you follow her out of the courtyard to
the back of the school, where the playing fields are located.
She turns to make sure you are still following her, before
walking toward a building at the other side of the fields,
onewhich is obviously older than the rest of the university,
and just as obviously not nearly as used. Three story, much
like the other school buildings, but of ancient red brick,
and some of the windows are broken. It is blocked off by
tall, spiked fences covered with graffiti, but your companion
simply twists a plank to the side and holds it back, allowing
you inside.
The grass inside is so thick
it's hard to walk, but is dotted with wildflowers and berry
bushes. A path has been pressed out, as if it has been walked
over a lot, and it is down that path toward the double doors
that your companion leads you. The door is magnificently old,
rich redwood with windows that may once have been stained
glass but are now shattered, the only remnant being a few
shards of colored glass in the corners. Your companion skips
up the three stairs and knocks twice.
After a while, the door opens,
and another girl peers out. It's an unmemorable face: plain
features, off-white feathers, light ginger hair in a bun with
the same color eyes, and glasses perched on the end of her
beak. She nods once at you, before opening the door and
letting both your companion and yourself through.
You look around at the hall of
the old building, at the tiled floor and tall plaster
ceiling, at the length of the hall that extends almost the
width of the building before leading to a door at the end.
There are other doors on either side of the hall, and a
flight of stairs up to the next level. They're as ancient as
the rest, but seem fairly stable.
Finally, as the door closes,
your companion turns to you. "What you see here goes no
further than you. You'll remember that, won't you." You
nod quick agreement. "Good. My name is Crystal
Drakestone, and I'm the leader of this group. Who are we?
We're the V.R.K.U, the Vanessa Ring of Keltor University.
