Belfast murals

Murals are political wall paintings that are found in alot of loyalist and republican areas of Northern Ireland.

The paint on the murals usually lasts for about 4 or 5 years. After this time the paint is either touched up or another new mural can be painted on top.

The best murals are to be found in Belfast and Derry. The murals are located both in loyalist and republican housing estates all over Belfast and Derry.

The best way to see the murals in Belfast is to do an organised tour, a black cab tour. Click on the link below to find out more about these tours.

The best way to see the Derry murals is to walk about and see them for yourself. Derry is much smaller than Belfast. Click on the Derry Independent hostel link to find out more about these murals. This hostel gives out free maps of where all the best Derry murals can be found.
