It includes Connemara and the Aran Islands. <P> It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, chiseled thru the centuries by glaciers, winds, and tides. The natural boundaries had isolated Iar-Chonnacht from the rest of Ireland. This isolation allowed traditonal Irish culture to be preserved.
