Genealogy Researching
KNOW THESE INDIVIDUALS? DO YOU KNOW WHERE THESE ANCESTORS AND DESCENDANTS ARE?
Hi, my name is Lady Mary. I am doing family research on the Needles family. If you know of, or have any knowledge of this line, would you be kind enough to email me by clicking on the appropriate link on this page? Thank you.

At this time, I am doing research for the Needles family. This is my cousin's husband's line.

The Needles family were living in Picher, Ottawa county, Oklahoma, possibly in the late 1910-1940 time frame. They worked the different mines there. One of the sons moved to California in the 1930's, married, and died there. It is his son I am doing this research for.
STORY, GIVEN AND SURNAMES OF THE NEEDLES FAMILY
Terrill Russell Needles was born 16 Oct 1908. He had a brother, Charles Lee Needles, born about 1904. Terrill may have been born in Oklahoma, Ohio, or Missouri. On his son's birth certificate, Terrill's birthplace is listed as Oklahoma. However, a couple of years before his death, he had told family members he was unsure of his place of birth. His son, Merritt Emmett Needles was born in Redding, California, 1937.

Terrill and Charles' mother had a possible name of Alice Richardson, and may hve been half-Indian, tribe unknown at this time. Their father's name may have been Merritt Emmett Needles. At about six and eight years of age, Terrill and Charles were put in an orphanage. This orphanage may have been in Joplin, Missouri. Terrill ran away from the orphanage when he was about nine years old. When he was sixteen, he found his father and step-mother in Picher, Ottawa county, Oklahoma. Terrill and Charles had a half-sister whose name may have been Mildred Needles. She, in later years, lived in Turlock, Stanislaus county, California and owned a chicken ranch. She may have been born in Picher, and it would most likely have been in the late 1910-1920's time frame.

Merritt, Terrill, and Charles were all workers in the mines in and around Picher. Merritt was a hoist operator, and may have stayed in Picher until his death, date is unknown. Terrill and Charles were water boys for the mining companies around the 1914 time frame.

Charles adopted a son, and named him after himself, Charles Lee Needles. There is a Charles L. Needles in Ohio, who is adopted, however, when I called his home, I reached his ex-wife. She was not willing to talk about him, nor tell me where he may be living at this time. It is felt he is the correct Charles, and may have information which is desperately needed to fill in some of the gaps on this family.

As I receive new information, I will add it here. If you prefer to write to me, my name and address follows:
