Fiat X1/9 vinyl ladder stripe - Downloadable
Hello friends and fellow admirers and worshippers of the X1/9 masterpiece.
I am an artist specialising in vinyl signs and graphics. My name is Roberto
Sassu. I have spent literally dozens of hours painstakingly tracing and
digitising the shape of the X1/9's vinyl auto graphics into computer. They're
now immortalised should they become unavailable later from the motor industry.
This is before scanners became readily available. I have made it possible
for the resultant quinessential computer file to be download for free from
my website. I do this for the love of seeing that the car remains in existence,
stock and intact. In my small way, I'm providing one spare part as a contribution
to this endeavour, and I challenge other manufacturers of parts to match
this same effort. This design is as accurate as possible. Any criticisms
/ feedback etc can be emailed to me. The size of the "X1/9" roof
panel badge may be out by a fraction of a millimetre. I am presently on
the lookout for an original sticker which I can use to re-scan if
neccessary. If anyone can help, email me below.
All you have to do is click on the download button below, save the file,
and pass it onto almost any signwriting ("signpainting") company
(preferably one who specialises in auto striping "detailing")
who does computer cut-out vinyl signs and ask for it to be cut by plotter
in vinyl. The best quality vinyl to use is 3M brand (lasts 7 -10 years in
the elements), and the best kind of vinyl to use is "cast" vinyl.
A cheaper alternative is the '9800 Series' Mactac brand, which has the best
texture. The colour is black. I recomend the semi-matte version.
Feel free to circulate this file as much as you wish. Webmasters and graphics
companies, feel free to link to this page. To download the entire X1/9 striping

the kit will look like this:
Visual Positioning Guide
The slit I supplied in the kit helps to achieve this compound curve.
To do a professional job, remove the small black grille (and light lense
if applicable) first.
See pictures above and below.
Caption as above.
You'll need to remove the bumper to apply this one.
Right hand side door / right rear fender junction.
When you applicate this one, to get all the side pieces in perfectly straight
alignment, keep the side section in one piece, then apply it properly, then
only when you're completely satisfied with the positioning and you've squeegied
out all the application fluid, finally slit the decal in the two places
between the door and the rear and front fenders with a box-cutter or similar
sharp instrument. Then bend the excess around and inside the door. See also
the next 2 photos.
This one is as above. You're looking at the junction between the left
hand side door and left hand side front fender.
Caption as above.
I will supply the exact measurement between the plastic grille and the baseline
of the lettering later.
Left front fender. Again, remove bumper and the black plastic grille and
lense and replace afterwards.
Front edge.
This photo is included only to illustrate the 2 colours of the vinyl neccessary
and where you could use vinyl to refresh the badges if they are very worn.
Metallic bronze vinyl also works well here.
