Why do I call this page Jesus and me?
August 1992 was the turning point of my life when a little spark was put into my life.
Little spark...???? In Christian terms the Holy Spirit took residence in my life. Simply, Jesus came to live in me. Initially I wanted to call this page JIM-JAM!
Jesus in me-Jesus and me. But then decided to keep it simple and call it Jesus & Enoch.
I have already used the word simple twice in the above text.
Accepting Jesus was and is a simple decision. All we need is to have a heart and mind of a child.
" I tell you the truth, unless you can change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18: 3-4 -NIV)
But taking that step of faith was the hardest part of this simple decision. Could God be real? Can Jesus be God himself? Yes I decided to take that step of faith in a little town called Hatton (Srilanka-pearl of the Indian ocean) while on a youth camp one night. Faith? Being an engineer and many times I'm asked how one could believe in something without seeing! We scientist always want proof before accepting! Let's look at what the BIBLE (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth - my own) says,
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1)
So like a little child, I believed Jesus was true and asked him to change my life. I also said sorry for the wrong things in my life and asked Jesus to help me change. Then something amazing happened and only when it happens to one personally can he/she understand what I'm saying. A heavy load was taken away, the guilt of the wrong things (Christians call it sin) in my life completely disappeared. A peace and an inexpressible joy (please read 1Peter 1:8) flooded into my life and on the last day of the youth camp I told everyone about the little miracle that took place in my life (it was little then but now I know it's the biggest miracle in my life; a bigger miracle than Jesus changing water into wine because he changed my life and gave real meaning to my life). Well the change in my life is the proof for me and that's the biggest evidence I can show to someone what Jesus could do.
For me it was the most important and best decision I have made all my life. Over the years Jesus has transformed my life and is still transforming. My friends would know the big difference in my life Jesus has made. I was never into drugs or been into prison for murder. In God's eyes I was a sinner although I thought I was a good boy! We could set our own standards and say this is a big sin and that is a small sin! That's man's( woman included...) standard.
Romans 3:23 is quite a popular verse but is true for me and for everyone (bishops, pope, evangelists, religious leaders, poor, rich, young, old.....)
what does it say ? : for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
But most of us miss the verses before(22) and after(24). They hold the key how to meet God's standard. Shall we look....
vs 22: This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
24 and are justified feely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Just as my Jesus told the man he healed to go and tell what God has done (Mark 5:19) I want to share this same Jesus with you, trust him and the joy, peace + many more he gives would be yours for ever. Riches, relationships, career or anything in this world can give you happiness but not for long..... because only Jesus can give that joy forever.
