Welcome to Knitted Creatures, Characters & Things.I created this page to showcase some of my work.
In January 2000 I was looking for projects to make using leftover wool that was gathering in the closet. Looking through the internet I found patterns by Jean Greenhowe to make dolls using scraps of yarn. I have been making them ever since. Over the years I have accumulated all the pattern books from this Scottish lady. Family and friends knew of my love to knit and have added to my collection of patterns.
I have also found Walt Disney patterns for the Winnie the Pooh gang and have added them to my projects. I have made over 140 items in the last three years. They have been given to friends and family for those special occasions.
In early 2003, I was introduced to Swedish Weaving. This is done on cotton Monk's Cloth and weaved into beautiful afghans.
Before doing these toys and afghans, I knitted afghans, sweaters and many other projects for my family. For three consecutive years I knitted mittens for the Ottawa Snowsuit fund. These mittens were given away with snowsuits to needy children. My goal was to complete 300 pairs of mitten yearly and I am happy to say that I did manage to meet this goal two years in a row.
Do you have uncompleted projects in your closet?
