The Township of Sparta, with its beautiful lakes, mountains, and farmlands, is a residential community located in Sussex County in northwestern New Jersey.  Its located about 50 miles from New York City.  Lake Mohawk is a man make lake and was conceived in August, 1926.  The lake is about 3  miles long and 1/2 mile wide.  Its deepest depth is approximately 20 feet.
