Big Ron sets his comb-over stall out early doors. |
Big Ron Stats:Born with a full head of hair in 1920, big Ron was immediately baptised into the world of football at the age of 11 with a hatrick in Preston North End's 5-0 drubbing of West Rainton Albion in the 1933 FA Cup final.Bald at the age of 14 he decided to retire into football management and began his lifelong quest to manage every club in the english football league. An ambition which he achieved at the age of 51, he put it down to years of hard work and sunbed usage. Big Ron's celebrity status has led him to star in big productions such as Record Breakers before Roy and he was once offered the National Lottery show, (allegedly). Of course we all know and love him for his football commentary nowadays, the subject of our next table. link to Big Ron's real stats. Courtesy of Sheffield Wednesday (the last club to sack 'im) |

"Beckenbauer really has gambled all his eggs." "I think that was a moment of cool panic there." |

Atkinson, who parted company with Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, has been in Johannesburg for a series of meetings with South African football chiefs and is confident of landing the job.
He said: "I've had a lot of talks today with the South African FA's technical committee and I have been very impressed. As soon as I got off the plane and I felt all that sun on my face, I thought yep, this'll do for me," he told the Express.
South African FA chief executive Danny Jordaan added: "It's not a case of whether we can afford Ron Atkinson, it is whether we cannot afford to do it."
Quotes about Big Ron"I think when he first went there, he was perhaps a little reluctant to go backin and it was always going to be a short-term appointment.'' "I think that Ron will have had a big say in that situation. Ron is a major management figure in the game." "He carried out his side of the agreement so far and I would think that it would be a mutual agreement." "He set out initially to stabilise Sheffield Wednesday and his brief was to make sure they stayed in the Premiership and that's exactly what he did." "We need to keep people like Ron Atkinson in the game," Barnwell said. "He has bags of experience." |
