Why does Relic Hunter want to stop these deals?
please look at the text of the hl. Catechism and canon law
Cleric Law (CIC = codex juris canonici) forbids sale of relics of category 1 (parts of the body - hairs, bones etc. of a saint) and category 2 (personnal propriety of the saint like clothing etc.).
The catechism says at 2121 Simony is defined as the buying or selling of spiritual things. To Simon the magician, who wanted to buy the spiritual power he saw at work in the apostles, St. Peter responded: "Your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain God's gift with money!" Peter thus held to the words of Jesus: "You received without pay, give without pay." It is impossible to appropriate to oneself spiritual goods and behave toward them as their owner or master, for they have their source in God. One can receive them only from him, without payment.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
Irreligion
2118 God's first commandment condemns the main sins of irreligion:
tempting God, in words or deeds, sacrilege, and simony.
2119 Tempting God consists in putting his goodness and almighty power to the test by word or deed. Thus Satan tried to induce Jesus to throw himself down from the Temple and, by this gesture, force God to act. Jesus opposed Satan with the word of God: "You shall not put the LORD your God to the test." The challenge contained in such tempting of God wounds the respect and trust we owe our Creator and Lord. It always harbors doubt about his love, his providence, and his power.
2120 Sacrilege consists in profaning or treating unworthily the sacraments and other liturgical actions, as well as persons, things, or places consecrated to God. Sacrilege is a grave sin especially when committed against the Eucharist, for in this sacrament the true Body of Christ is made substantially present for us
2121 Simony is defined as the buying or selling of spiritual things.
2139 Tempting God in words or deeds, sacrilege, and simony are sins of irreligion forbidden by the first commandment.

Canon Law
BOOK IV
PART II : THE OTHER ACTS OF DIVINE WORSHIP
TITLE IV : THE CULT OF THE SAINTS, OF SACRED IMAGES AND OF RELICS
Can. 1186 To foster the sanctification of the people of God, the Church commends to the special and filial veneration of Christ's faithful the Blessed Mary everVirgin, the Mother of God, whom Christ constituted the Mother of all. The Church also promotes the true and authentic cult of the other Saints, by whose example the faithful are edified and by whose intercession they are supported.
Can. 1187 Only those servants of God may be venerated by public cult who have been numbered by ecclesiastical authority among the Saints or the Blessed.
Can. 1188 The practice of exposing sacred images in churches for the veneration of the faithful is to be retained. However, these images are to be displayed in moderate numbers and in suitable fashion, so that the Christian people are not disturbed, nor is occasion given for less than appropriate devotion.
Can. 1189 The written permission of the Ordinary is required to restore precious images needing repair: that is, those distinguished by reason of age, art or cult, which are exposed in churches and oratories to the veneration of the faithful. Before giving such permission, the Ordinary is to seek the advice of experts.
Can. 1190 1 It is absolutely wrong to sell sacred relics.
2 Distinguished relics, and others which are held in great veneration by the people, may not validly be in any way alienated nor transferred on a permanent basis, without the permission of the Apostolic See.
3 The provision of 2 applies to images which are greatly venerated in any church by the people.

Please look at the name and the function of the person who made this document:
Francis Xaverinus, Postulator is printed on this sheet
(look how many traces from folding the document you find. I just see a totally fresh one)
Literature about the canonization proces of St. Theresa says, the Postulator was Father Rodrigo di San Francesco die Paula and vice-postulator was Mgr. Roger de Theil
Isn't there a little difference? Or a false? We dont know, but I am astonished.
Would you kindly look at the seal of this masterpiece? It is very nice, readable, but I cant find that name of the postulator on it? Can someone tell us, why? Thank you?
And - I forgot - this relic costs more than us-$ 2'000.--
There is a market with enorm stocks of holy relics that may be stolen, come from a bankrupt monasterys or a closed private chapels. This happens due to the bad financial situation so many have to make money to maintain for example the monastery or sell an old castle including the built in Chapel after having sold all the "things" that bring supplements of money.
Relic dealers ave a feeling like dung flyes to use the situations of such persons in financial troubles and they may obtain wonderful relics like this guy who harassed and threatened us probably to defend his skull and boone shop without any success.
If you noted what we quoted above, you know, you shall not buy anything at such guys, but what do you do if there is a sale of the skull of an holy body who lays in your church? Wouldn't it be fine to complete your saint? Law says no! What says your chest, your devotion to this saint? Do you want to let a private guy possess this relic?
We understand your doubts and maybe we can give you a little help.
Besides the sample we cited above mostly you will find smaller thecas with holy relics, mostly without documents for sometimes very cheap prices at EBAY for example (even if EBAY forbids sale of human remains). This relic may be marked with Francis, Benedict or Anthony without any more indications.
Here we may give you a little help: We possess a register with about 15'000 Saints and blesseds. As requests at the bollandists means often you have to buy the whole library, (a wonderful library for people with lots of money and willing to spend the rest of their live with hagiography) but a bit too costful for enquiries about "how much Benedicts have been canonized, whats their full name and eventual other data"!
As we possess so much data, we will give them to you for free, as a little cooperation betwen small parts on one church! Email us right hereJust send us an Email with your request and full Address, fax and Phone No. because sometimes we contact you to be sure we are giving our data to the church and not to simonists.
shows us a perfectly made false relic. Sold at Ebay by Hans Georg Stumpfohl a "Simonist for poor people that sings also at the choir of the local church" who sells hundreds of medals with Cat. 2 relics at Ebay and will probably not even make a lot of money. But we dont know what an simonists-brain thinks to grasp lots of money.
When you look this theca, it seems perfect, computer written labels full with details of the Saint. - For us this is too much perfect, because for such a new relic there must be existing documents. On the revers you will miss immediately the seal. No doubt - something is wrong with this object.
- We know the Simonist guy Stumpfohl buys some of these new relics and also relic crosses with contact relics (see above)at a nuns monastery who shall be not far away of his domicile at Leipheim (Germany).
We dont know what happens with the nuns and the spiritual guides of the monastery who sells holy relics to simonists, there would be another, legal way, but probably simonists pay better, who knows.
At least let us have a little look at a text found at one of the little shops of horrors of a simonist:
I am pleased to offer for your consideration this superb, 19th century, French, silver theca (5" by 5" and 1" deep) containing 11 important relics: True Cross, substantial ex ossibus relic of St. Ursula society (11,000 Virgins), St. Ludovicus King, St. Clothilde Queen, St. Isabella Queen, St. Rose of Lima, St. Eduardus King, St. Fransisca widow, St. Norbertus Bishop, St. Siardus Abbot and St. Francis Xavier. Wax seal and threads unbroken and all in place. You're bidding on the theca, the relics will be a gift. $495
Maybe this seems to be quiet normal only there is a little hint due to badest knowledges of hagiography and roman numbers.
Do you think there were 11'000 virgins at Cologne when St. Ursula has been murdered? No ladies and gentlemen, but M may mean 1'000 in roman numbers, in hagiography and such documents, that says "martyr". So there were 11 virgin martyrs killed with St. Ursula a little duifference on 10'989 persons. If this small error is made to trust a seller who has no documents for such thecas, feel free to do it. If not, contact us, we know a little bit about this mater, but don't sell it. And we don't ask 495 $ for something we can not even explain but unfortunately an ignorant person will probably support this fraud of human remains and buy. (the origin of this text is stored at our archives, to show you, dealers are only making money without any knowledges of the stuff they deal)
