My name is Mike Hogue and I'm a veteran of the Army Security Agency. I have many fond memories of my years with ASA and would like to hear from any old buddies that run across this site.
ASA Assignments
- Oct 66: Basic at Ft Leonard Wood, MO
- AIT at Fort Devens, MA - MOS 058/05H. Fifty classes before mine went to Vietnam. No one in my class went directly there.
- In September 67 I was assigned to Rothwesten, Germany. While stationed there I got to see all of Europe and decided that I wanted to get out and go back to college. I 1049'nd to Vietnam and arrived in May 69.
- 330th RR Company - Vietnam (69): Five of us were picked to open a new outstation in Nha Trang (on the beach with a short-time E6 in charge). Needless to say, we enjoyed the time. We did a good job and our experience was needed in Pleiku so they sent us there and and replaced us with newbies. The Pleiku experience was not as nice - cold and muddy during Monsoons and hot and dusty the rest of the time. Not to complain tho - we didn't have it as bad as most there at that time of the war.
I got out 5 months early and started back to college at the University of Arkansas - Little Rock and graduated in 1972. I went to work for ABF Freight System and worked for them for the next 24 years in Little Rock, Texarkana, and then moved to Fort Smith in 1990. I left ABF and am now running the Port of Fort Smith and Warehouse Services for Global Materials Services.
After I was discharged, I married my high school girl friend and we now have 1 son and 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren. My youngest daughter is still in college at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR.
