Class 47/4, 47488 hauled 10 MK1/2 coaches and B.R. standard 5 steam locomotive 73096 into Poole station arriving at 19:12.
The train of 10 Mid Hants Railway coaches moved into the carriage sidings at Sterte (19:22) at the west end of Poole Station in readiness for the Steam Dreams railtour, The Cathedrals Express which will depart from Poole at 09:00 on Wed July 9th 2003.
Both locomotives were moved onto one of the old Poole goods yard sidings to be stabled overnight.

73096 will haul the Cathedrals Express from Poole at 09:00 on Wed 9th July 2003 to London Waterloo.
This train will run as 1Z96 and will be the first steam hauled train to climb Parkstone Bank without the aid of a banking engine for over 36 years!
The return working is booked to arrive back in Poole at 19:18 hauled by 73096, 47488 will then couple up to the train and haul it to Eastleigh departing from Poole at 19:55. At Eastleigh the train will reverse at platform 2 and run back to Alton hauled once again by 73096.
