WORK EXPERIENCE
|
I am a lawyer with Whitt & Company, located in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The focus of my law practice is corporate and commercial, cyberspace, e-commerce, intellectual property (copyright, patents, trade-marks and trade secrets), Internet and technology law.
In the summer of 1998, I was an intern with the law firm Tilleke & Gibbins in Bangkok, Thailand, the largest and oldest independent law firm in Southeast Asia. I was assigned to the Copyright department, and was under the direct supervision of Mrs. Woranuch Periera. Tilleke & Gibbins is also active in Cambodia(Kampuchea), Laos, Myanmar(Burma), Vietnam, and is a member of the Counterforce Network of the Counterfeiting Intelligence Bureau of the International Chamber of Commerce.

EDUCATION & VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

I was born in Saskatoon and moved to Calgary in 1980. I completed my primary schooling in Calgary, attended the University of Calgary and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)in Law and Society and Asian Studies. After serving with the Canadian Army Military Police (Reserves) and working as an employee relations and process prime with Nortel, I decided to further my education. I attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton and graduated with my Law Degree (Bachelor of Laws - LL.B.) in 1999. I was a volunteer with Student Legal Services at the U of A, with the Southland Community Operated Police Station (C.O.P.S.) in Calgary, and an English tutor for Korean students and for the Thai staff at Tilleke & Gibbons. I am now a member of the Canadian Bar Association Intellectual Property & Information Technology and Taxation non-specialist subsections, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology, the Licensing Executive Society, Partners In Technology and the TBL Napkin (Internet network group).

INTERESTS
|
|
In my spare time I am attempting a linguistic study of Cantonese (Chinese dialect spoken mainly in Hong Kong) and Vietnamese. I am also physcially active with Thai Bo (aerobics), Muay Thai kickboxing and I have a black belt in Taekwondo. I also enjoy camping, baseball, hiking, mountain biking, movies, playing guitar, rugby, skiing, surfing the web, swimming and travelling.
