blee mind thrice was conceived from the notion that the unification of midland city, ohio's favorite sons would produce a stunning array of sounds and noisia. shirc real and jaime legato were raised together as brothers in that sleepy little town. by the time they were 16 and 14 respectively, shirc and jaime had already won several local talent shows with their special knack for music and juggling. after ditching the juggling idea (and it took it's toll for the next several years, I must tell you), in favor of an entirely musical show, jaime learned to play the bass in order to complement shirc's award winning guitar mastery. for many years they continued, only to realize that there was only one thing missing. stue trory was born in enon, ohio but moved to midland city during the Red Scare of the early 70's. Stue's father was a renowned studio trumpet player for those jazz greats, the Anachronauts. stue took up drumming and soon found a place with his fathers band. the story of blee mind thrice really begins in september of 1991 at the annual county fair. shirc and jaime, playing under the name, "trout", knew they weren't going to have the diverse rhythms or polyphonic texture to win over such a hip crowd, so they had to call an audible (if i may borrow a hackneyed sports cliche). what happened next was simply fate. trout's manager, victor tell, had insisted for years that they add percussion to their show, and that this was the perfect time to unleash such a fusion of ideas. the only drummer in town was stue, so it only made sense that he join trout. reluctantly, shirc agreed, but as soon as all three hit the stage, there was no doubt -- blee mind thrice is surely something to wretch about. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
