The Bear's Den

Writing on the Wall:
I was born and raised in Westlake Village California. I learned to ride a bicycle at age five. I rode my bike to and from school. I used my bike to deliver newspapers and have been pedaling all over the place since then. Eventually, I moved on from bicycles to motorcycles.

My first experience on a motorcycle was with my Dad's 1970 Honda CB 350. Later, I became friends with some people who owned their own dirtbikes. The one I spent the most time riding was a small green Kawasaki KX-125.It was all fun and games until some local business owners called the Sheriff to complain about the noise pollution. It's not like we didn't care about the environment or standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency, it's just that we were busy having fun riding on a dirt track which we setup like an enduro coarse.

Later on my brother took the Motorcycle Safety Foundation coarse to get his motorcycle license and an insurance discount before buying a Honda Magna 750. My brother let me try riding his motorcycle on my own a few times and I have been hooked ever since then. Unfortunately I haven't had time to get my motorcycle license or a motorcycle until recently. Until recently I have been busy working on my house with tools and items bought at the Home Depot.

Since I am on the subject of working on homes, I'll tell you about why I am working on this house. It all started when my Dad heard about how my cousin (the same one who is now the Vice President of Pets.com) bought some houses either while he was in college or after he graduated. (I'm not quite sure either it was before or after he graduated) Anyway my cousin bought some houses which needed some TLC, fixed them up, and either rented them out or sold them. (depending on what was going on in the real estate market at the time he finished working on the house) So when I got to the University of Arizona my Dad thought that it would be a good idea to buy a house and make mortage payments instead of flushing money down the toilet by paying rent. After one year of living in a dorm (I don't think that I would call Apache Santa Cruz a dorm. I think that it's more of a freshman storage facility.) and a while of living in a fraternity house I bought a large five bedroom house.

The house is very close to campus so it will be easy to rent out the rooms and should I ever decide that I want to sell the house I should have no trouble because I am sure that someone else will want a house near campus either to live in or rent out. The house has needed and still does need some tender love and care. So far I have (with the help of friends and family) painted the exterior, painted four of the bedrooms, painted a bathroom, removed old carpeting, repaired a cracked chimeney, placed a new floor in the kitchen and a bathroom, removed a useless doorway, fixed the plumbing, replaced the shower heads, replaced the kitchen sink faucet, patched some holes in the walls, wired some grounded outlets, patched and repaired the roof, removed bars from all of the windows, landscaping with river rocks, removed three ugly trees which were too close to the house, repaired and welded the fence, replaced cracked glass in three windows, repaired the window frames in the kitchen and bedroom windows and installed some outside security lights. I still have to refinish the wood floors, install ventilation in a bathroom, paint a bathroom, touch up the trim on the house, install new curtains, finish trim in another bedroom, replace some bad wiring and outlets, and install another outside security light. If you have any questions or comments: please about how to do any work on your house or want some help email me and I'll see what I can do for you.

I am currently a senior majoring in Economics and minoring in Business and Sociology at the University of Arizona and I like to do some motorcycle riding when I have a chance. If you have ever riden on or thought about riding a motorcycle you will appreciate the links I have on my webpage which will take you to the various websites setup by various motorcycle producers and enthusiasts.
