Welcome to FISHEARL DISCUS
Fishearl discus is located in Orlando Florida. I have hand picked all my stock from hatcheries in Florida the best I could find. All young fry are parent raised for at least four weeks to ensure healthy top quality fish. I started keeping Discus about two years ago.As the number of fish grew I soon had fish pairing off for breeding. I have since turned my garage into a small hatchery. At this time I only sell to pet stores locally around central Florida.Of course anyone is welcome to buy from me.

If you are new to discus fish keeping and have read about how hard they are to care for there are some easy methods. I use no reverse osmosis systems no water softening systems and no expensive electronic pH monitors.Heres what I do.I keep a couple of large new garbage cans full of water at all times. When I fill them I use a liquid detoxifier that you can get at any pet store. This works instantly to remove the ammonia and chlorine. As for lowering the pH I learned a little trick from a breeder in south Florida I use muriatic acid. This can be purchased at any pool supply store for about $2.00 a gallon. It doesn't take much I use about three capfuls for a 45 gallon can of water. You can test the pH with an inexpensive test kit from your local pet store. This method has worked for me for years all my fish are healthy.

About water changes. It is true that discus need frequent water changes but how often depends on what size tank there in and how good your filtering system is .Also how many fish are in the tank. Each fish should have at least 10 gallons is my rule.My large 75 gal. show tanks in the house get vacuumed and 30% water change once a month. My 29 gal. breeder tanks once a week. The tanks I raise the babies in which change in size as they grow get cleaned daily because of the large amounts of fish and feedings.
