Responsible leadership means following the principles of ethical decision-making. Most decisions can be judged as ethical or unethical. But everyone has different ideas as to what is ehical or unethical depending on personal values, the nature of the organization and experiences in life. An important advantage of women directors, it is claimed, is that they can take a diffrent perspective from male directors. Male directors tend to eat at the same club and mingle with corporate executives. Woman are much more involved with family relationships, volunteer activities and so on; they can often take a different view from men who tend to be more exclusively involved with their work life. This in contrast with the fact that most of today's women directors are able women bringing expertise and business to their job. Many women agree that their presence on a board can act as a kind of pressure on men making responsible decisions, because automatically changing their attitudes and prejudices towards women. Equal opportunity policies are important in creating equality in treatment and pay between men and women. But often prejudices still excist on certain topics. | ||||||||||||||||||||
