This course is designed to expose students to a wide variety of literary works from various points in History as a means of developing a good context for their own exploration of literature. In addition, this course will seek to improve each individual student's writing ability by using a variety of methods. Students will be fine tuning the basic writing skills they already possess as well as learning new methods for effective writing.







Course Introduction
Attendance/Partcipation Policy This course in primarily about examing literature from a critical perspective. In order to receive a superior grade in this course it is expected that you will not only be in class regularly and on time, but participate in a thougtful and energetically in all class discussions. Excessive absences or tardies will not be tolerated and will result in serious penalties. It is expected that you will be in class ready to begin when the bell rings (NO EXCEPTIONS!!). You are permitted a total of three (3) unexcused absences/tardies per quarter. Any additional absences/tardies will result in a TEN POINT DEDUCTION from your overall grade per infraction (The moral here is be here and be ready!!).
