Hello! Welcome to the Amman International Baccalaureate Peace Conference (IBYPC) website. The fact that you have made it this far proves that you have an interest, or in the very least that you?re curious. Well our job is to convince you that this is one conference you really want to participate in.
Although a peace oriented nation, Jordan borders Iraq, Syria, Israel\Palestine, Saudi Arabia and is separated from Egypt and Lebanon by one city in both cases. Strategically placed, don?t you think???
Jordan is renowned as the land of His Majesty the late King Hussein and his wife Queen Noor, and of course their successors His Majesty King Abdullah and Her Majesty Queen Rania. You probably also heard of His Holiness the Pope?s recent historic pilgrimage through Jordan, which brings to mind the many breathtaking Biblical and Qur?anic sights. Jordan also boasts an Ancient city that was carved into the red stone mountains.
Jordan is an economically poor country, and yet I?m sure you have deduced that it?s rich in history, culture, religion, and need I mention, political conflict. For all the above reasons, Jordan is an ideal location for introducing students to the world of war and peace, and peacemaking.
