Bengal Cubs Osiris and Isis
Home.     Introducing Lord Osiris and Lady Isis!  Born on March 30, 1999, this beautiful pair of bengal cubs from Underground Reptiles (Our frequently visited pet store here in Deerfield Beach, FL) joins our family on June 28th.  Now our household is under Bengal-mania!

What is so special about those damn cats you say?     Bengal cats are the result of the cross between an asian leopard and a domestic cat, usually Egyptian Mau or domestic short hair, and generations of their offspring. How cool is that!? Your very own little leopard!

Bengals cats are quite agile, active, social, intelligent cats. They are often described as having dog-like personalities; playing fetch or walking on a harness and leash. The bengal is a very self-assured cat who is not afraid of anything. Like their leopard cat ancestors; they have an affinity for heights and water, often playing in a tub of water or showering with their human companions.

Their diet does not consist of ordinary cat food, these felines live on a mix of ZuPreen wet food, Nutro dry kitten formula and a bit of dry dog food.  They use the litter box, just like other domestic breeds, but these cubs are destined to be potty trained.

Bengals are medium size and muscular, getting up to 20% larger than most domestic cats. They exhibit a broad modified, wedge-shaped head, prominent wisker pads, and vivd mascara lines. The ears are medium set with a wide base, and have somewhat rounded tips.

Tell me more you say? These big cats have a very long,  muscular body, with hind legs slightly longer than their front legs, giving them a "stalking" appearance, when they walk. Their tail is of medium length,  thick and muscular, with a blunt, black tip.

The Bengal's coat is short, dense, soft and silky with a plush pelt-like texture. Better quality Bengals have gold or crystal tipping to the hair giving them the appearance of having been dusted with gold or crystal glitter. The glittered effect to the coat causes the coat to glisten and sparkle with a metallic-like sheen.

The first three generations of cats resulting from the breeding of a leopard cat and a domestic are often referred to as hybrids, foundation cats, or filials. The first hybridization of a leopard cat and a domestic cat can be referred to as a first generation hybrid or F1. The breeding of an F1 to a Bengal or to another domestic cat is referred to as a second generation hybrid or F2, and so forth. Osiris and Isis are of the third generation hybrid or F3.
