Greg Fiala's Music Homepage

Hello, I'm a 39 year old "has been" when it comes to guitar. I used to really apply myself at it when I was a younger guy and I have audio tapes that range from my early teens to the present. I recently discovered some of the features of digital re-mastering are available to common folk like myself at very little cost.  I'm slowly but surely revisiting my past efforts, cleaning them up a little when possible and dumping them to MP3 format.

There are some real memories associated with these recordings. Memories like my best friend (and drummer) Mike Miller who tragically lost his life in an auto accident in 1983. It's kind of a blessing to hear him count and click off the beginning of his favorite song with Tom Zuccarello and I accompanying him. I might just get brave and post links to my Junior High School Band - Venom. Then again, I might not. We'll see as this site develops.

In the meantime do you want to hear some old tunes of mine? Do you have a MP3 player yet? Click on http://www.winamp.com to download my favorite of the free players available. Remember that MP3's are rather large files and take a while to download. No instant gratification but I think it's worth your time to check them out.

The first song was my buddy Mike Miller's favorite. Mike had only been playing drums a few years but he made quick progress. He passed away at 25 years old and left a young wife and son who was only 5 months old.   It was about the worst thing I've ever had to endure. Time has healed the wounds of his loss and now I can listen to this song with a smile plastered on my face. This is a treasure! Right click your mouse on mikezukedrumsolo.mp3 and select "save target as" to download this tune.

The next song was recorded around 1982 with another friend of mine playing drums - Keith Hempen. I call it Chunka-Chunka-Gah.mp3 and I've retroactively named the band - Zukehemptaneous Combustion.  Tom Zuccarello spontaneously made it up as he was playing that evening. Chunka-Chunka-Gah was recorded in cousin Bart's basement hence it's now the first cut on the "Bartimaen Basement Dwellers" album/CD. Our motto was "you provide the space and we'll ROCK the place". It's pretty sweet if you go for that hard rock hippie music stuff.
