Hey you guys, Just wanted to let you know that Ive been invited to be the administrator of an awesome new forum...At first, I was reluctant, since I am so busy, but after seeing it, I had to say okay, because it had so many great features! (I think it is atleast as good as the old dragonstone board, that some of us old timers used to post on.)
Some of its features-
-No banner ads
-Ability to edit your own messages after you have posted it.
-ability to post in Html and UBB (I dont even know what that is)
-Control over how long in the past you wish to view threads and posts
(you dont have to go past all the old messages in
order to reach the latest ones)
-Can send emails directly to poster of a message
-Can receive emails about your message
-Unlimited space (This way, you dont have to create 'Sansa II' and 'Sansa III' every 100 posts or so, and I dont have to create 'A CLASH OF KINGS II' and 'III' every 100 topics or so)
And so on and so forth.
Its address is http://dragonsworn.blabmaster.com.
There are also forums to discuss sci-fi/fantasy in general, as well as topics such as WHEEL OF TIME and fantasy artwork.
Try it out!
(And Im looking for moderators for the other board as well, so if you are interested in moderating this one or the other one, email me at [email protected])

Tom, I do visit the other board from time to time. And I definitely have a dagger at hand when I do. ;-)
Don't worry about Em. I can recall the last time someone tried to frighten her. I think he still regrets it. The man able to frighten Emily is not yet born, I think. Nor will he, if I judge this rightly. Right Em? So don't fret.
People calling WoT better than ASoIaF and LotR _combined_??? Now _that_ is scary! Well, as I said, Tom: Whenever you need to warm your hands at a friendly fire: The one burning here burns brightly still. And hopefully will for a long time, even after ASoS came out.
:-)

Right, Min!
Tom tried to scare me? When??? Not only was I not afraid, but I didn't even notice. I'm also unsure of who this 'poor Emily' person is. Can anyone enlighten me?

I guess perhaps I ... er ... misinterpreted your earlier post, Emily. As I mentioned above, I am unfamiliar with the nuances of court life hereabouts. Appearances can be deceiving, as we should all know well enough by now. And perhaps you folks are indeed a whole lot tougher, more resilient than you let on. It's just that I had this image of Emily gathering up her skirts and dashing off, appalled. I gather that real Emily is more of the Arya, "You're Dead Meat If You Get Any Closer" sort? Well, perhaps that's all for the best.
This site is really terrific, by the way, but it is still confusing for one coming out of the cold, as it were. I daren't post anything for fear that you all have "been there, done that". And there's more ... Why just a few minutes ago I stumbled down some dimly lit alley not far from Flea Bottom and came upon ... "Min's Sexiest Character" thread. Mind you, I was looking for Tyrion's brothel, and it seemed like a reputable enough establishment, but I left hurriedly ... blushing furiously. (Perhaps I HAVE been on the Wall too long.)
(I did mean to say, before my hasty departure from that thread, that, beyond all doubt, Elia of Dorne is the sexiest character in ASOIAF. But that's another story...)
Just checked again and the way North is still closed. Sigh. What does one do when one is exiled from the Wall? Head for the Free Cities, perhaps? Become a Faceless Man? What to do, what to do...

"It's just that I had this image of Emily gathering up her skirts and dashing off, appalled." ???
Poor Tom. Poor, poor Tom. He was such a good man. Honestly, I came to like the guy. Too bad EMily offed him. Too bad.
;-)))
But aside from that: Tom, you may not know the ways here, but you should know as much: No one here would ever criticize you for saying something that ahs been said before. We do this all the time. You honestly will find a bunch of really tolerant people here, and you are welcome to throw your two pence into the sack. Kay Arne does his best to collect all the money. ;-) Don't be afraid. We are here to support weird theories. :-9

Revanshe: The other BB has now been dead for four days, and I'm ... uh ... starting to lose hope. I can only imagine that the "Wall" has finally succumbed to ... The Others. If that is so, can any place be truly considered "safe"?
Is there any news on that front? Have any "ravens" arrived from the Dragonsworn?

No, no ravens from Dragonsworn...
I check once a day or so to see if it working, and I guess I'll keep on doing so for awhile...
Honestly, though, one thing Ive learned about messageboards from all my past experiences (I think Ive been around for all of them...Any old timers remember the first one, before the DragonStone one :D- Markus, Peter Gibbs and some others were there) is that they are very, very fickle...This Eesite one may have been around the longest period of time, actually...so although it doesnt have great features, (and sometimes topics and stuff randomly disappear), it has been the most dependable, so far...
(Not that that means anything, I would not be surprised if it crashed tomorrow...)

Thank you, Revanshe. You've done all you could; I cannot ask for more.
I think I'll just gather up my few poor possessions now--my travel-stained black cloak, my flagon of ale, my trusty sword--and ... head north once more, into ... into whatever awaits me up there, to the North. Perhaps, I'll discover the truth about out what happened ... to Dragonsworn, to Benjen, to the Wall. If I do, I'll somehow send back word. On my honor, I will. Or mayhaps I'll just die in my attempt to learn the truth. It matters not. It's ... it's what we Brothers, renegades and riff-raff all, are sworn to do.
Goodbye, warm fires. Goodbye, Min's "Sexiest Character Thread"... Fare thee well, one and all. And ... keep your eyes open, my friends, you people of the South. Use all the means that you have at hand, dagger, sword, wildfire, the "eesite". Prepare yourselves ... for ...
Winter is Coming.

The Legend of Tom:
Did I ever tell you the story of Tom? He rode in from the North one windy Autumn day, determined to make his mark in the Southern kingdom. I saw him for the first time from that rise right over there. A magestic figure he was, too. He had that certain look about him. You know, real sure of himself and all. Well, he was a good one, that man. They don't make 'em like Tom anymore. Well...

***Raven from Dragonsworn, bearing message***
It still stands; the Wall still stands [knock on (gods)wood]! I've seen it with my own eyes.
And yet ... it's completely deserted; no sound, no speech, no posts, nothing other than the comfortless wail of the North wind, the occasional eerie howl of a direwolf. There are no Brothers of the Nights' Watch, no Others, no Wildlings, no goofball adolescent postings ... no one. Brrrrr... Has the slate been wiped clean here in this place? Will the Wall ever be the same? Will its denizens ever return and, if so, ... as what? Wheel of Time aficionados? [Shivers.] It doesn't bear thinking about. Ahhh, so many questions, so few answers. But I will hold on, as best I can.
Come, see for yourself ... if you dare...
