i noticed that no one was posting anything about Ned's dream/memory in his cell.He dreams about the tournament in Harrenhall,when he was 18,and we learn from that dream that Rhaegar won and gave Lyenna the flowers crown.Ned touched it and was hurt from the thorns.I think it symbolize the fact that ned had to take care of john because of the affair between his sister and Rhaegar and was "injured" from that-he had to carry a big secret,plus his reputation was'nt the same again.

Perhaps it was symbolic of the hurt the whole kingdom was about to endure as an indirect result of Rhaegars actions
