Thanks to Dave Schiber for scans of the picture/info card for
Black Shadow. Added an entry for
him and the other Crossformer,
Blue Bacchus,
and added pictures of them from the show.

The Victory series covers the conflict between Deszaras' Destrons and
Star Saber's Cybertrons as the Destrons try to collect enough energy
to restore their space fortress while coming up with plans to defeat
the Cybertrons.

Black Shadow and Blue Bacchus
LATEST!
A pair of Destron Crossformers (Transformers with transformable outer
Pretender shells), Black Shadow and Blue Bacchus showed up in only one
episode of Victory. Their reign of terror on planet Micro was stopped by
the Cybertron six-changer Greatshot, who destroyed their shells and
severely injured them as they fled off into space with their collaborator,
Hellbat.
The Black Shadow and Blue Bacchus toy figures were actually based on the
molds for their American Hasbro counterparts Thunderwing and Crossblades,
respectively. The American versions' organic aspects were removed to
create the more robotic Japanese versions.
Here are scans of the card for Black Shadow, thanks to Dave Schiber

Brainmaster cars and Road Caesar
The three Cybertron Brainmaster cars are like the Three Musketeers of lore.
Like
Star Saber,
a fellow Brainmaster but not part of this combining group,
their primary weapons are their swords, from which they can fire energy beams
to shock the Destrons as well as cut them. Also like Star Saber, their faces
are formed when their respective drivers are inserted into opened slots in
their chests and then closed. They form the brains too, which explains their
Brainmaster group name. They shout "Transform!" to transform their vehicles,
and "Brain set!" when going into the chests.
The three are Blacker, Braver, and Laster. They can combine into a single
robot, Road Caesar, whose usual opponent is
Liokaiser
in the series.
Below are pictures of the three Brainmaster Cybertrons and Road Caesar.
They are all mine except for the ones designated as not.
Blacker
Blacker is the leader of the group of three. He transforms into a black
dune buggy.
- Front of his own box, Japanese version
(70K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture was found on eBay. The glowing
light around his face is an indication of his Brainmaster power.
- Front of his own box,
Chinese version
(43K, figure, 5/15/00).
This is also from eBay. The Takara company printed this version for the
Chinese market, but the toys from this and the Japanese version are
identical.
- Front of his own box, imported European version
(41K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture is also from eBay.
This particular version was imported by Takara from Europe, since it has the
Asian sticker on the front. In Europe his name is Gripper, and the group
name is Motorvator. The toy doesn't have the blue combining parts of the
Japanese version, and has orange parts where the Japanese version is red,
and a blue windshield instead of an orange one. The box art was modified
to include the changes, though Gripper is holding his sword at a different
angle than Blacker does. Under the sticker is a note that the Brainmaster
is an energon mini-figure.
- Scan of the dune buggy
(143K, figure, 5/15/00).
The blue combining parts on him are removable. You can probably see the
driver through the windshield. The silver part on the front of his hood
is chromed diecast metal; most of the other silver parts are stickers.
The wheels are rubber.
He carries both the Road Caesar shield/chest plate and the Road Caesar
head, whose antennae are gun barrels in this form.
- Above front left snapshot of the dune buggy
(59K, figure, 5/15/00).
The upper central part of the chest plate is chromed diecast metal, too.
You can see the driver's face through the windshield.
- Left side snapshot of dune buggy
(38K, figure, 5/15/00).
There are more chromed metal parts under the back of the chest plate.
- Front left snapshot of dune buggy
(41K, figure, 5/15/00).
It is just a little bigger than, say, Chromedome.
- Inside the driver compartment
(57K, figure, 5/15/00).
The driver is now visible.
- Left front snapshot of robot
(31K, figure, 5/15/00).
The head/gun can stay on the chest plate/shield or fit into his fist
through a peg that in combined robot form fits into the hole in Blacker's
forehead. The shield has two pegs which fit into the two holes on his
chest when in combined form. Because of the struts on which his arms are
attached, he can turn his arms all the way around or swing them inwards or
outwards. His sword, which can fit on one of two holes on each dune buggy
side, is finally seen here.
- Close view of his upper body
(60K, figure, 5/15/00).
He has a really nice set of blue eyes. The face is chrome silver.
There are Blackers with yellow eyes instead, though.
- One step during the "Brain set" process
(56K, figure, 5/15/00).
As the chest cover swings open, the face disappears back into the little
Brainmaster's body, revealing its own head.
- Another step of the process
(56K, figure, 5/15/00).
The Brainmaster driver is now free to leave!
The following are scans of Blacker's own individual box
which are contributed by Brandon

- Back of box
(160K, figure, 10/28/00).
- Bottom of box
(138K, figure, 10/28/00).
This has the largest version of his portrait.
- Front of box
(141K, figure, 10/28/00).
- Left side of box
(137K, figure, 10/28/00).
It has the figure's dune buggy mode with Brainmaster, and his robot mode.
- Right side of box
(149K, figure, 10/28/00).
This side adds Road Caesar. Brandon apologizes for the sun-faded look of
this side. :}
Braver
Braver is the technical genius of the group. He transforms into a red
Ferrari F-40 race car.
- Front of his own box, Japanese version
(45K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture is from eBay. The glowing
light around his face is an indication of his Brainmaster power.
- Front of his own box, Chinese version
(56K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture is also from eBay. The two versions have the same toy.
- Front of his own box, imported European version
(39K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture is also from eBay.
This particular version was imported by Takara from Europe, since it has the
Asian sticker on the front. In Europe his name is Lightspeed, and the group
name is Motorvator. The toy doesn't include the shield/leg cover and fist
for Road Caesar, unlike the Japanese version. The European version has
yellow where his Japanese version is silver on the windows, adding red
highlights. It also has white parts on the front and side stickers changed
to red and the original red switched to yellow. The dark blue on Braver is
lighter on Lightspeed. The box art was modified to include the changes,
though Lightspeed is holding his sword at a different angle than Braver does.
Under the sticker is a note that the Brainmaster is an energon mini-figure.
- Front of his own box, original European version
(37K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture is also from eBay.
The sticker sheet is also included. Note that it includes some stickers
for the missing leg cover. ^_^;
- Scan of car
(92K, figure, 5/15/00).
The wheels are rubber and have star hubcaps outlined in silver chrome.
He carries the folded-up leg cover for Road Caesar
on top of him, with the fist mounted on top of that.
Unlike Laster or Blacker, he can't carry his own blue sword on himself,
though it still can fit on Blacker's white sword in all modes.
- Above front left snapshot of car
(45K, figure, 5/15/00).
You should be able to see the Brainmaster driver through the windshield.
- Left side snapshot of car
(44K, figure, 5/15/00).
- Front left snapshot of car
(58K, figure, 5/15/00).
- Inside the driver compartment
(58K, figure, 5/15/00).
The driver is visible!
- Front left snapshot of robot
(23K, figure, 5/15/00).
The Road Caesar fist could be left on the leg cover or on the other
side of him as well as in his own fist. He has diecast metal for
the inside surfaces of his lower legs.
- Close view of upper body
(62K, figure, 5/15/00).
He has a really nice blue visor. The face is chrome silver.
There are other Bravers with red visors, though.
- One step during the "Brain set" process
(57K, figure, 5/15/00).
As the chest cover swings open, the face disappears back into the little
Brainmaster's body, revealing its own head and chromed face.
- Another step of the process
(54K, figure, 5/15/00).
The Brainmaster driver is now free to go!
The following are scans of Braver's own individual box
which are contributed by Brandon

It has the figure's Ferrari mode with Brainmaster, and his robot mode.
- Right side of box
(175K, figure, 10/28/00).
This side adds Road Caesar.
Laster
Laster seems to be the caretaker of the group, and the youngest.
He transforms into a yellow Countach car.
- Front of his own box, Japanese version
(41K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture is from eBay. The glowing
light around his face is an indication of his Brainmaster power.

This picture is also from eBay. The two versions have the same toy.
- Front of his own box, imported European version
(40K, figure, 5/15/00).
This picture is also from eBay.
This particular version was imported by Takara from Europe, since it has the
Asian sticker on the front. In Europe his name is Flame (obviously inspired
by the flames on his sides and hood), and the group name is Motorvator.
The toy doesn't include the shield/leg cover and fist for Road Caesar,
unlike the Japanese version. The European version has red parts where
Laster was black. The box art was modified to include the changes,
though Flame is holding his sword at a different angle than Laster does
and still has part of his now non-existent shield/leg cover.
Under the sticker is a note that the Brainmaster is an energon mini-figure.
- Scan of Countach car
(87K, figure, 5/15/00).
The wheels are rubber and have star hubcaps outlined in silver chrome.
He carries the folded-up leg cover for Road Caesar
on top of him, with the fist mounted on top of that.
Unlike Laster, he can carry his own black sword on himself,
either as shown on his Road Caesar fist or on either side of his car.
- Above front left snapshot of car
(54K, figure, 5/15/00).
You should be able to see the Brainmaster driver through the blue windshield.

The Road Caesar fist could be left on the leg cover or on the other
side of him as well as in his own fist. He has diecast metal for
the inside surfaces of his lower legs, like Braver does.
- Close view of upper body
(60K, figure, 5/15/00).
He has really nice blue eyes. The face is chrome silver.
- One step during the "Brain set" process
(63K, figure, 5/15/00).

The following are scans of Laster's own individual box
which are contributed by Brandon
([email protected]:
- Back of box
(221K, figure, 10/28/00).
Notice that Laster shares the same tech specs readings as his commander
Blacker. ^_^
- Bottom of box
(151K, figure, 10/28/00).
This has the largest version of his portrait, which gave him two separate
eyes instead of the single visor that he has on the Victory show.
- Front of box
(209K, figure, 10/28/00).
- Left side of box
(152K, figure, 10/28/00).
It has the figure's Countach mode with Brainmaster, and his robot mode.
- Right side of box
(164K, figure, 10/28/00).
This side adds Road Caesar.
The following are some of my group pictures involving the above three.
- Scans of the three little Brainmaster
drivers
(45K, figure, 5/15/00).
From left to right are Blacker, Braver, and Laster. Each contains the
robot mode's face within. You can switch a Brainmaster from one car to
another to give the robot a new face with the same head. ^_^
They look like miniature versions of their larger robot forms.
- The three cars
(17K, figure, 5/15/00).
Blacker at the bottom is the largest car, followed by Laster and Braver.
- The three robots
(31K, figure, 5/15/00).
Laster and Braver at the ends have the same height and are the tallest,
oddly making their leader Blacker the shortest one by about half a head.
Blacker is the largest robot of the group on the show.
Road Caesar
The combined might of the three Brainmaster cars is enough to take on
the Destron Dinoforce combiner
Dinoking
but not enough to stop Liokaiser by himself on the show.
Unlike those two Destron combiners', the toy figures for
Road Caesar and the three Brainmaster Cybertrons largely match their
show appearances.
Their swords can combine into one, the Road Blade, which can fire a
combined beam at enemies. There are gun barrels on the swords which
can be arranged so that they form a circle around the blades.
Blacker's white sword is always the central one. Laster's
black sword and Braver's slightly longer blue sword fit into pegs on
Blacker's sword, while Braver's sword pegs into Laster's near the base.
Braver's sword handle is the one that fits onto either of Road Caesar's fists.
Forming Road Caesar wasn't difficult. They start from robot modes.
Blacker spreads apart his legs and swings up his arms, flipping out
panels to make their appear wider. Meanwhile, Laster and Braver swing
in their legs as if returning to car modes and peg their respective leg
covers and feet to the new front sides. Their big heads plug into Blacker's
hollow legs, and their Road Caesar fists peg into the bottom of Blacker's
inverted upper arms. Blacker's shield pegs into the central two holes to
become Road Caesar's wide chestplate. The head/gun swings its barrels apart
and down to the sides to become antennae, and like for the
Cybertron Headmasters,
the blue visor and forehead swings into view. Once the new head pegs into
the hole in the top of Blacker's forehead, and the new sword pegs into a fist,
Road Caesar is done.
Standing about 9.5 inches (24 cm) tall, the Road Caesar figure is about as
tall as Powermaster Optimus Prime / Super Ginrai. Though the instructions
say to swing his fists' gun barrels back, I prefer leaving them facing
forward.
Here are my scans and snapshots involving Road Caesar:
- Scan of the box art
(362K, figure, 5/15/00).
It has Road Caesar and Blacker, Braver, and Laster at the bottom.
I think it looks really great! ^_^
Oddly it has Braver's fists visible in Road Caesar form when they aren't
seen on his toy. Road Caesar's actual legs have non-existent heel
supports, yet his art shows one, like
Overlord's
does.
- Scan of the right side of giftset box
(199K, figure, 5/15/00).
The Brainmaster feature is demonstrated for each member. The other side
of the box is basically the same, missing the demonstrations.
- Specs card from the back of the box
(77K, figure, 5/15/00).
This has some information about Road Caesar.
Here is an English translation by Doug Dlin
([email protected]):
C-323 Brainmaster Roadcaesar
Transformation: 3-robot combination
Abilities: Contains the three symbols of good, the Brains of Strength,
Skill and Intelligence. The exceptional abilities of these three are
combined into one, resulting in mobile power equal to Star Saber's.
Weapon: Road Blade
Function: Three-Musketeer Gestalt
(Actually, it's "Sanjuu-gattai-kishi," which translates more literally
as "Three-Gun Gestalt Knight." Since "Sanjuushi" is the term for the
Three Musketeers, I thought my less literal translation sounded better,
but take your pick.)
Final Attack: The Brain Wheel Shocker, in which he launches super energy
rings from all his tires. Even the Destron's Liocaesar is no match for this.
- Road Caesar's tech specs bar graph
(126K, figure, 5/15/00).
His specs are: Strength 10, Intelligence 10, Speed 9, Endurance 9,
Rank 9, Courage 8, Firepower 8, Skill 10.
- Picture card
(109K, figure, 5/15/00).
This is found on an inside box flap on the right side. It's part of his
box art with the phrase "Transforms from car mode to super robot and back
again!" underneath his group name "Brainmaster" and his name "Roadcaesar".
- Info card
(95K, figure, 5/15/00).
This is found on the other inside box flap on the right side.
It has a different sketch of him and some more information about him.
Here is a translation of it by Doug Dlin:
Codename: Roadcaesar
Code No.: C-323 Level: 73
Origin: Planet V
Profile: As one might expect from a combination of the three warriors
Blacker, Laster and Braver, he is a giant hero full of indomitable
fighting spirit. If Star Saber is king of the skies, then one could
easily call Roadcaesar king of the land. With these two kings teaming
up, there's no need to fear the Destrons.
- Front left snapshot of Road Caesar
(28K, figure, 5/15/00).
As noted, his arms are quite posable, though they are rather skinny...
- Left side snapshot
(19K, figure, 5/15/00).
...compared to his thick legs. ^_^;
- Back right snapshot
(30K, figure, 5/15/00).
Here you can really see Blacker's diecast chrome engine halves on his legs.
Since Road Caesar's head only pegs into the front of Blacker's own head,
part of Blacker's red head is still visible as seen.
- Close view of Road Caesar's head
(56K, figure, 5/15/00).
The antennae are formed from the gun barrels when the head was a gun for
Blacker. The blue visor is actually on a closer plane than the rest of
his face, making him look like he has telescopic vision. ^_^
- Front snapshot of Road Caesar
(25K, figure, 5/15/00).
- Size comparison with Black Zarak and
Powermaster Optimus Prime
(37K, figure, 5/15/00).
The Road Caesar figure has the same height as Powermaster Optimus Prime.
I haven't placed the extra stickers on my Black Zarak yet. ^_^
- The same group from a left front above perspective
(31K, figure, 5/15/00).
My scans of the instruction sheet for the three Brainmaster cars and their combined
form Road Caesar can be found
here.
More pictures of the Brainmaster cars and Road Caesar can also be found in the
Victory catalogs, which are in their own section
below.
Breastforce and Liokaiser
The Breastforce group consists of
Deszaras
and at least six other Destrons who transform into various land and air
vehicles. Their group's name comes from the fact that they have chest plates
which can detach to become a deadly animal (somewhat reminiscent of Soundwave
and his cassettes) or a lethal weapon. Only six of them, Leozack, Guyhawk,
Hellbat, Jargua, Drillhorn, and Killbison, actually merge to form the dangerous
Destron gestalt named Liokaiser. He is also known as Leocaesar and Liocaesar
(which is the official spelling according to his box, by the way), but his
name is pronounced as Liokaiser in the Victory series, which sounds distinct
from the name of a Cybertron gestalt,
Road Caesar,
his purported equal but an easily overwhelmed opponent.
The Breastforce, their partners, and gestalt form can be found in
the following two pictures I found:
- Front of giftset
(112K, figure, 9/4/98).
This has a great drawing of Liokaiser.
-
In various modes with their animal partners (47K, figure, 9/4/98).
- Jargua's box
(48K, figure, 5/29/99).
This picture is courtesy of Valente
([email protected]).
The individual members' boxes are the only way to get each one's
individual box art, tech specs, and more. I find it amusing that
his vehicle form is named as "baggy" instead of the correct "buggy"
as in "dune buggy". ^_^
Each robot head, including Liokaiser's, has the features of his corresponding
animal partner molded into it. The figures for their animal partners don't
look too impressive in their weapon mode, but look pretty nice in their
animal modes. Unlike other TF partners like the Headmasters, Targetmasters,
and so on, all of the animal partner figures have Decepticon symbols on them.
The six Breastforce members showed up gradually over the series, with their
leader Leozack appearing first, followed by Hellbat, Drillhorn, Killbison,
and Jargua.
They were often seen collecting Earth's energy into energon cubes.
The five had to locate and then free Guyhawk from a prison on a Micromaster
homeworld around the middle of the series. In an episode after that,
Leozack wanted to contact another Breastforce Destron named Deathcobra
to replace the devious Hellbat. To prevent that, Hellbat visited the
Destron first but ended up in a shooting match with the green helicopter
Transformer and his cobra partner. Hellbat accidentally killed Deathcobra
while (comically) shooting back at him from behind a boulder. He blamed
Deathcobra's death on the Cybertrons Holi, Holi's girlfriend Clipper,
and his human friend Jan, who all happened to witness it and were still
there when Hellbat came back with the rest of his group.
When
Star Saber
showed up to aid the three, the six Breastforce members merged into
Liokaiser for the first time. Powered in part by a desire for revenge, the
gestalt inflicted serious injuries on the Cybertron leader with his combined
weapons and would have killed him if
God Ginrai
had not intervened.
As a gestalt, Liokaiser can use any of the individual Breastforce member's
weapons in various deadly combinations. He can generate a seemingly solid
pike from thin air which can bend like a nunchuk. Using it like a rope,
he can bind opponents, generate a spiked ring which can return and hit
an enemy if first avoided, and once produced a spiked ring which fired
its spikes as it spun. He also has the ability to turn himself invisible,
which he used several times. In one such time he lured Star Saber into a
trap with Deszaras which eventually left God Ginrai with a death blow.
He was unquestionably the most dangerous Destron combiner ever.
Near the end of the series Liokaiser was fighting to guard Deszaras' huge
space cannon/fortress,
for which the Breastforce had been collecting energy
to revitalize it and to free it from a dark void where Star Saber and
his Cybertrons had trapped it long ago. Liokaiser met his end when he
was knocked by the reincarnated God Ginrai, Victory Leo, into the fortress'
highly-charged shield. He was last seen turning grey from the energy overload
and floating away in space.
The following are my own pictures of my Breastforce collection, with
comments about each member, his partner, and Liokaiser.
Leozack
Leozack, also known as Leozak, is the leader of the six. He transforms
into a torquoise and grey F-14 jet and comes with a lion partner.
- Front view of robot mode

Here he is holding his lion partner in weapon mode.

Notice the lion head molded into his head.
- Front left view of jet mode

Leozack can still wear his chest plate in this mode. Like a real
F-14 jet, his wings can swing around from front to back.
- Front left view of jet mode with partner
(21K, figure, 1/26/99).
The hole in the rear end of the jet happens to be the right size for
his lion partner in weapon mode, so Leozack is practically a Targetmaster.
I left off the Decepticon symbol from his nosecone.

Notice the bat wings sculpted into his head.
- Front left view of jet mode
(24K, figure, 1/26/99).
Hellbat can still wear his chest plate in this mode, but unlike
Leozack's, his partner can't be used as the jet's weapon.
His feet and the little struts on his arms serve as supports.

Unfortunately the weapon doesn't look as menacing as in the Victory series.
Guyhawk
Guyhawk, the suave Destron also called Gaihawk, transforms into a
pinkish-red and grey MIG-29 Fulcrum jet with a hawk partner.

Notice the hawk's features molded into the head.
- Front left view of jet mode
(17K, figure, 1/26/99).
Guyhawk can still wear his chest plate in this mode, but there is
no other place for his partner otherwise. Like Hellbat's,
his feet and the little struts on his arms are the supports in this mode.
- Another front left view of jet mode
(25K, figure, 1/26/99).
- Upper front view of jet mode
(19K, figure, 1/26/99).
- Right front view of Guyhawk's partner
in hawk mode (21K, figure, 1/26/99).
The two pegs used to attach the hawk to Guyhawk in its chest plate mode
unfortunately make it the least impressive-looking animal of the
Breastforce.
- Right rear view of Guyhawk's partner
in hawk mode (21K, figure, 1/26/99).
The rest of the animal partner looks really detailed and nice.
- Guyhawk's partner in weapon mode
(20K, figure, 1/26/99).
Like for the other partners, the cannon barrels in its tail could
have been much wider or longer.
Jargua
Also known as Jaguar, Jaugar, or Jarguar, Jargua transforms into a black
and grey dune buggy with a jaguar partner and plenty of ammunition in
vehicle mode.
- Front view of robot mode
(22K, figure, 1/26/99).
He is holding his jaguar partner in its weapon mode.

Jargua's is the only one besides Deszaras' whose own spring-loaded
chest can be pushed back to insert the partner in chest plate mode.
- Very close view of his head
(20K, figure, 1/26/99).
Notice that he has a jaguar head sculpted into his head. The
manufacturer obviously messed up somewhere during the painting of
his face. :P

The red ammunition parts are moved from the white pegs into the holes
at the bottom of his feet in this mode.

JARGUA Breastforce
Function: Cyberneticist
Transformation: Missile Buggy
Abilities: Has a symbol of evil, the "Jaguar Breast," built into him.
Even enemies who go to ground to escape Leozack and his
fellow aerial forces don't stand a chance if caught by
Jargua.
Weapon(s): Jaguar Cannon
Final Attack: The "Spiral Attack"--Cornering an enemy he has pursued
to the verge of destruction, he fires off a volley of
computerized missiles. These strike while circling in
toward's the prey's weak points, creating the attack on
which he prides himself!
Card Info:
Codename: Jargua Code No.: D-332
Level: 64 Origin: Death Zone
Profile: Serious of demeanor, with solid 8's on his tech spec file,
he has average marks in any and all fields. An exemplary
Breast Force member, he readily obeys Deathsaurus' orders,
but this also means a flaw: He lacks autonomy, so that he
will come to a standstill when confronted with a problem.

Transformation: Drill Tank
Abilities: Has a symbol of evil, the "Rhino Breast," built into him.
Can push his way in any direction underground from the
surface. His breast weapon fires an X-ray beam that works
just as well underground.
Weapon(s): Horn Cannon
Final Attack: The "Magma Bomber"--Burrowing rapidly through the
ground, he channels fiery magma to bodily strike the
enemy. Thanks to the tough armor of which he's so
proud, he remains unharmed.
Card Info:
Codename: Drillhorn Code No.: D-332

the battlefield. However, he also commits major errors by
adhering too much to past battles and experience.

Liokaiser
Last are my pictures of the Liokaiser figure. He has several
characteristics not found in most other Transformer gestalts.
His individual units store all of the gestalt's extra parts except
for the head, but the grey mouth plate part of Liokaiser's head is
actually the back of Leozack's head as well. The chest plates can't
stay attached to the individual members when they are part of Liokaiser,
so they must be detached and used as Liokaiser's partners. ^_^
Liokaiser's transformation sequence is also unique. Unlike most other
gestalts like Menasor and Computron, his components can't be swapped
around at all. The grey upper legs swing out from his lower leg units
Killbison and Drillhorn to attach to Jargua. Leozack literally sits
flatly on top of Jargua, attached to him in two places. The two arm units
Guyhawk and Hellbat can attach to each other and/or to Leozack at the holes
on his lower legs, not at his arms as you would expect for other gestalts.
The fists slide out of the arms while the feet (though pretty narrow and
tiny for him) swing out from the lower legs. After attaching the upper
head piece to Leozack's head to form Liokaiser's head, his weapons are
formed by combining both Killbison's and Jargua's.
For posability he can bend his elbows and swing his lower arms outward to
the sides, which is very exceptional for gestalts at the time. However,
he can do more. For more posability possibilities, you can rotate one arm
up and down a little at the shoulder if you first remove it and attach it
only to the other arm to allow that kind of movement. An arm can also be
bent down at the shoulders if you pull that arm away from the body while
still keeping it attached to it, as if it were attached to the torso like
the Aerialbots and other Scramble City combiners would. To allow Liokaiser
to bend down his upper body at the waist, you can remove his upper body and
then attach it only to the pair of clips at the front of the lower body.
Here are my scans from the Liokaiser giftset box:
- Large scan of Liokaiser and the Breastforce

This comes from the front of the giftset box. Looks really keen. ^_^
Liokaiser is at the top, while the individual Breastforce members are
arrayed at the bottom.

Abilities: Concentrating the Breast Power of all Breast Force warriors
save Deathsaurus, the combat strength of his attacks
surpasses even that of the Cybertron's Roadcaesar!
Weapon(s): Strike Missile Gun
Final Attack: The "Battle Explosion"--Using this battle technique, he
appears temporarily to self-destruct, but in fact he
splits up to attack his enemy from above, below and all
sides.
- Liokaiser's tech specs bar graph

This is also from the back of his giftset box. His specs are:

Firepower 9, Skill 9.
- Liokaiser's picture card
(56K, figure, added 5/20/99 and enlarged 5/21/99).
I think the manufacturer, Takara, meant to say, "Transforms from vehicles
to super robot and back again!" Note that the spelling "Brestforce" was
used instead of "Breastforce", and that the spelling "Liocaesar" was used.
- Liokaiser's info card
(46K, figure, 5/20/99 and enlarged 5/21/99).
It contains a decent illustration of him, better than that of the other
Destrons in my opinion.
The following is an English translation of the information by Doug Dlin
([email protected]):
Codename: Liocaesar Code No.: C-335
Level: 75 Origin: Death Zone
Profile: As might be expected from the assembly of three air and three
land warriors, he is known as a Super Gestalt Transformer who
can counter all manner of battle patterns. However, due at
least in part to the inability of his six components to get
along, he cannot move well when they must suddenly try to act
as one and fight.
From the series itself, however, Liokaiser doesn't seem to have the problem
mentioned in the info card.
Here are my pictures of the figure itself:

Destron space fortress
Trapped within a dark void in space by
Star Saber
and his Cybertrons some time
before the series began, the fortress was the most powerful weapon of
the Destron leader
Deszaras.
The Destrons spent most of the series collecting massive amounts of energy
to revive it, and succeeded in doing this near the very end. After bombarding
Earth with several powerful energy blasts and asteroids, the fortress was
transformed into a cannon by Deszaras preparing to deliver a shattering blow.
However, the fortress was sabotaged by the human boy Jan with the
help of Dinoforce leader
Goryu
before he could fire. In the very end, after the defeat of Deszaras in a
pitched battle, the fortress/cannon was destroyed by
Victory Saber.
Here are some pictures of the mighty fortress from the series:
Deszaras
Deszaras (also known as Deathsaurus, Deaths R' Us, Death Czar, Death Czaras,
Death Czarus, etc.) is the Destron leader during the Victory series.
He is similar to Galvatron from the original Transformers series,
with his maniacal laughter and his abusive behavior toward the other
Destrons and Breastforce member
Leozack
in particular.
However, unlike Galvatron, Deszaras is also a very cunning and rational
leader like the original Megatron. In the first half of the series he
hardly ventured outside the Destrons' space cruiser base Thunder Arrow
(Skystalker). In the very first episode he escaped from the dark void
or dimension in which his
space cannon/fortress
was trapped by
Star Saber
and his Cybertrons some time ago. Throughout the series his fellow Destrons
were preoccupied with collecting energy needed to free the fortress while he
concocted schemes against the Cybertrons.
Deszaras also has considerable strength demonstrated in various battles.
His arsenal was originally limited to his two animal partners, a tiger
(who can become a bow) and an eagle (who can become a shield), and his
dragon mode. However, in his fight against Star Saber around the middle
of the series, Deszaras for the first time used his huge powerful rifle,
into which he can channel his own energy through various conduits. It did
serious damage to Star Saber. Deszaras was prevented from complete victory
because of lack of energy for his rifle and the fact that the
Dinoforce
was having trouble with the other Cybertrons.
Despite being thwarted, Deszaras later conceived of a trap in which
the Breastforce gestalt
Liokaiser
would lure out and then beat up Star Saber with the aid of several exploding
Asian Indian statues. Even though Deszaras' huge and powerful rifle blast,
meant for Star Saber, was taken by
God Ginrai,
the Destron succeeded in killing the intervening Cybertron.
Later Deszaras came up with a plan to allow his Destrons to gather
energy without interference from the Cybertrons by using a small missile
platform in space to threaten Earth. Unfortunately, the plan didn't last long
when Victory Saber, the combination of Star Saber and Victory Leo (God Ginrai's
new body), showed up for the first time, defeated him, and destroyed the
platform.
Nevertheless, at the end of the series Deszaras succeeded in reviving his
space fortress with energy from Atlantis, and began bombarding Earth with
asteroids and high-energy blasts. He took out Victory Saber temporarily with
a glancing blow from one blast and transformed the fortress into a large
cannon. However, Deszaras was stopped from bombarding Earth any further
when the human boy Jan damaged the fortress' power source using information
from the Dinoforce abandoned on Earth. Deszaras ultimately died after losing
an eye and being stabbed in the chest by Star Saber in their final battle,
but not before locking Star Saber inside the fortress and escaping from
it into the void as his lifeforce ebbed away.
Here (88K, figure, 9/4/98)

the one he has in the series, and he doesn't come with his sword from
the series either.

His dragon wings can't swing to the sides as seen in the series, but
they still are large and impressive.

The outer chest plate has detached to become a winged tiger, leaving
Deszaras with the inner chest plate.
- Deszaras holding both animal partners in their weapon modes

After giving Galaxy Shuttle a glancing but still incapacitating blow,
Deszaras turned his weapon back toward Star Saber as the scene turns blue
right before he pulled the trigger. Unfortunately for him, he had used
up his surplus energy in his previous blasts. :D
Pictures of Deszaras can also be found in the Victory
catalogs, which I scanned in and placed in their own section
below.
Dinoforce and Dinoking
The Dinoforce consists of six Destron Pretenders with cyborg dinosaur shells.
They often serve as comic relief, with the bickering Goryu and Kakuryu as
the two members who gets most of the attention. ^_^ However, in battle they
are a formidable group, especially when they merge into Dinoking. Goryu's
weapon can create energy rings, similar to but not as powerful as the Devil
Thunder Rings once generated by
Black Zarak
in the Masterforce series.
The inner robots for those Pretenders are actually recolors of the inner
robots of the Decepticon Monster Pretenders outside Japan who form Monstructor.
Goryu (Icepick) the tyrannosaurus rex is the leader of the Dinoforce.
The others are Kakuryu (Slog) the triceratops, Gairyu (Bristleback) the
ankylosaurus, Doryu (Scowl) the stegosaurus, Yokuryu (Wildfly) the pteranodon,
and Rairyu (Birdbrain) the apatosaurus. The gestalt pieces for Dinoking
can be stored with the individual members on their pretender shells
when they are separated. Unlike the Pretenders in the Masterforce series,
the Dinoforce's shells would remain even when the inner robots emerge, so
they can effectively double their forces. The inner robots never transformed
in the series.
Throughout the series the Dinoforce caused general mayhem and collected energy
to revitalize and free the Destrons' space fortress/cannon from a dark
void in which
Star Saber
and his Cybertrons trapped it long ago. However, when they were abandoned
near the end of the series on Earth while the fortress bombarded it, their
leader Goryu revealed the fortress' weak point, which the human boy Jan
damaged to immobilize it and give Star Saber and Victory Leo the edge.
At the end of the series Kakuryu was last seen splashing around in a water
fountain with some kids, while Goryu was overseeing construction work. ^_^
Here are some pictures I found of the Dinoforce figures:

some comments about each member and their gestalt Dinoking.
Goryu
- T-Rex Pretender shell
(26K, figure, 4/21/99).
Note his handgun and a Dinoking footpad attached to its back.
Goryu often is seen riding around on his shell while giving commands to his
Dinoforce.
- Inner robot in robot mode
(16K, figure, 4/21/99).
Goryu forms Dinoking's left leg, but could form the right leg as well.
That is why he comes with a Dinoking footpad.
- Close view of front of robot
(22K, figure, 4/21/99).
- Inner robot's alternate mode
(16K, figure, 4/21/99).
This was never seen in the series, by the way.
Kakuryu
Rairyu
- Apatosaurus Pretender shell
(32K, figure, 4/21/99).
Dinoking's pelvis is mounted on the top, with Rairyu's own gun placed in
front of it. When forming Dinoking, the leg components hook onto the
pelvis, with Rairyu inserted into the piece itself.
- Inner robot in robot mode
(17K, figure, 4/21/99).
Rairyu has the largest individual gun of the Dinoforce.
He forms Dinoking's lower torso.
- Close view of front of robot
(17K, figure, 4/21/99).
- Inner robot's alternate mode
(16K, figure, 4/21/99).
It never appeared in the series.
Doryu
- Stegosaurus Pretender shell
(28K, figure, 4/21/99).
A Dinoking footpad is mounted to its left side, with Doryu's gun placed
on the other side beside the plates.
- Inner robot in robot mode
(15K, figure, 4/21/99).
Doryu forms Dinoking's right leg, but can form the left leg as well
when swapped with Goryu. It is the reason why his shell carries a
Dinoking footpad.
- Close view of front of robot
(20K, figure, 4/21/99).
- Inner robot's alternate mode
(15K, figure, 4/21/99).
It was never seen in the series.
Gairyu
- Ankylosaurus Pretender shell
Gairyu's gun is placed in the front while one of Dinoking's fists
is mounted behind it. The manufacturer apparently was a bit sloppy
with the painting of his spikes. :P
- Inner robot in robot mode
(15K, figure, 4/21/99).
Gairyu forms Dinoking's left arm, but can form the right arm instead.
His shell carries a Dinoking fist for this reason.
- Close view of front of robot
(24K, figure, 4/21/99).
The hole in his lower torso is for the connection to Kakuryu when
forming Dinoking.
- Inner robot's alternate mode
(11K, figure, 4/21/99).
This mode never appeared in the series.
Yokuryu
- Front view of pteranodon Pretender shell
(22K, figure, 4/21/99).
Unlike the other Dinoforce Pretender shells, Yokuryu's shell has some
posability. The head can be swiveled around, and his wings can be moved
a little bit.
- Front side view of Pretender shell
(18K, figure, 4/21/99).
- Back view of Pretender shell
(21K, figure, 4/21/99).
Yokuryu's gun is mounted on the left side, while one of Dinoking's fists
is mounted on the right side.
- Inner robot in robot mode
(17K, figure, 4/21/99).
Yokuryu forms Dinoking's right arm, but can become the left arm when
swapped with Gairyu. His shell carries a Dinoking fist because of this.
- Close view of front of robot
(23K, figure, 4/21/99).
The hole just below the alternate mode's head is for the connection
to Kakuryu when forming Dinoking.
- Inner robot's alternate mode
(13K, figure, 4/21/99).
It never appeared in the series.
Here (18K, figure, 9/24/99)
is my group picture of their fully-armed Pretender shells. They
do make a formidable fighting force.
Dinoking
The final set of my pictures here are of the Dinoforce gestalt Dinoking.
His figure is among the smallest of all combiners, even though his size
in the series is comparable to the other gestalts'. The shells probably
accounted for most of the mass and size.
Unlike most Japanese Transformers, the Dinoking giftset figures come in
a white plastic tray, not styrofoam. The dinosaur shells are arranged
on the left side and are visible through the plastic windows on the box,
while the inner robots are stored underneath the box art in robot modes.
Dinoking is pretty neat. Unlike most combiners, his upper legs are formed
by the leg components themselves, not by the central component. This gives
him bendable knees. The arm components hook onto cubical pegs (not holes)
on Kakuryu's arms, so swinging the arms actually means swinging Kakuryu's
arms unless you change how the arm components are pegged.
Like Devastator and
Liokaiser,
for examples, the torso for Dinoking is formed from two separate Transformers.
Rairyu inserts himself into the pelvis piece. Then Kakuryu swings his
golden shell back out over his head to plant the shell over Rairyu's head.
After plugging Dinoking's head onto Kakuryu's head and connecting all the
limb components, Dinoking is complete. All of the individuals' guns can be
attached to him as well to make him bristle with weapons.
Here are my own scans from the Dinoking giftset box:
- Very large scan of Dinoking and the dinosaur
pretender shells
(159K, figure, 4/21/99).
It comes from the front of his box. Looks very impressive. ^_^

([email protected]):
DINOKING Dinoforce
Transformation: Six-Robot Gestalt
Function: Dinosaur Gestalt Warrior
Abilities: A combination of the six robots of the Dinoforce. Transforms
into a super-destructive robot that revs up the abilities of
his six components to their fullest. He displays superlative
strength, enough to crush a battleship with one hand.
Weapon(s): Dinoblaster
Final Attack: The "Dino Crusher Energy"--Concentrating all his power
into the core of his body and unleashing it, this attack
has the ability to alter a planet, and can reduce even a
great metropolis back to the Stone Age.
- Dinoking's tech specs bar graph
(66K, figure, 5/21/99).
His specs are: Strength 9, Intelligence 7, Speed 7, Endurance 9, Rank 7,
Courage 9, Firepower 9, Skill 8.
- Dinoking's picture card
(50K, figure, 5/20/99 and enlarged 5/21/99).
I think the manufacturer, Takara, meant to say, "The six monsters jump out of
their shells and combine to super robot and back again!!"
- Dinoking's info card
(44K, figure, 5/20/99 and enlarged 5/21/99).
Somehow I think the artist for this picture was a bit sloppy here.
Dinoking's portrayal in the series looks better.
The following is an English translation of the information by Doug Dlin
([email protected]):
Code Name: Dinoking Code No.: D-328
Level: 65 Origin: Charr
Profile: As one might expect of a Transformer combining the entire
Dinoforce, he's the top Destron when it comes to being violent.
His rival is Landcross, the Cybertrons' Multiforce gestalt.
He's pushing to become Emperor of Destruction, and if left
alone, he won't stop what he's doing 'til he drops dead.
In contrast, in the Victory show itself Dinoking shows no obvious signs of
plotting to replace Deszaras as Destron leader.
- Dinoforce members in all of their modes
(77K, figure, 4/21/99).
This is from one side of the giftset box.
- Formation of Dinoking
(79K, figure, 4/21/99).
This has the six Dinoforce inner robots at the top, and a view of how all
the pieces join together to form Dinoking.
Here are my own pictures of the Dinoking figure himself:
- Standard formation, front left view
(25K, figure, 4/21/99).
- Same as above but armed
with all of the individual components' guns
(24K, figure, 4/21/99).
I think this makes him look even more wicked. ^_^
In the Victory series Dinoking somehow can attach all of the guns to his
rifle, but his figure can't do the same. So, this is the closest his
figure can come to that. I attached the guns to the fist holes for all
of the individuals except for Rairyu and Gairyu, who can't hold any guns
while part of Dinoking.
- Upper left side view of above
(21K, figure, 4/21/99).
My scan of the Dinoforce and Dinoking's transformation instruction sheet
can be found on this page
here.
My scan of the Dinoforce's sticker sheet at 200 dpi can be found on my inserts
page
here.
Here are some pictures of the Dinoforce and Dinoking from the series itself:
- Goryu in a really bad mood
(62K, series, 9/24/99).
The Micromaster Rescue Patrol had just beaten them, with Fire (Red Hot)
blasting them back to their ship Thunder Arrow with a flood of water.
- Kakuryu and Goryu after another setback
(62K, series, 9/24/99).
Goryu is even wearing a little bandage criss-crossed over his head.
^_^
- Yokuryu
(62K, series, 9/24/99).
Here he was entering Deszaras' throne room aboard Thunder Arrow to report
that Star Saber was nearby.
Pictures of the Dinoforce and Dinoking can also be found in the Victory
catalogs, which I scanned in and placed in their own section
below.
Multiforce and Landcross
The Multiforce consists of six individual members. They each have a robot mode,
but they also can combine with each other to form 30 possible robot pairings,
or all together to form the gestalt robot Landcross. This leads to a grand
total of 37 possible robot forms.
The six individuals are
Wing (grey and red jet), Waver (red and white hydrofoil),
Dash (red car), Tacker (green and grey halftrack truck),
Mach (white and blue space shuttle), and Tackle, who is also known as Attack
(red and blue truck).
The 30 possible robot pairings are made by making any one individual
the top of the combination robot above the waist while any other individual
becomes the bottom.
The pairing can be switched from top to bottom and vice versa.
The name of a pair comes from joining the top individual's name to the
bottom individual's name.
As seen in the series and for the figures, the usual pairs are Wing and Waver
to form Wingwaver (the leader of the Multiforce), Dash and Tacker to form
Dashtacker, and Mach and Tackle to form Machtackle. In one episode Machtackle
demonstrates the Multiforce's abilities, splitting up into two separate robots,
and reversing the pair to form Tacklemach. However, that is the only time in
which this is shown. Usually the pair simply split up into separate vehicles
for transport and then recombine, either into the usual pair arrangement or
into Landcross with everyone else. The only individual robots seen in the
series were Wing, Mach, and Tackle, if I remember correctly.
When combining to form Landcross, Wingwaver forms his torso and upper legs,
while Mach becomes his left shoulder and arm, Tackle becomes his left leg,
Dash becomes his right shoulder and arm, and Tacker becomes his right leg.
Mach's space shuttle wing piece becomes his chest plate, while all six
individual guns can join together to form a single large gun.
His head, fists, feet, and pelvis plate are extra pieces of accessories.
Except for the feet, none of those pieces really fit anywhere when Landcross
is separated, unlike the pieces for the other gestalts in the Victory series
like Road Caesar,
Liokaiser,
and his usual opponent,
Dinoking.
Here are some pictures I found of the Multiforce and Landcross figures and boxes.
This set is courtesy of J.B Wong of the J.B Collection Shop
([email protected]):
- Front of Landcross' box
(58K, figure, 5/29/99).
There is no box art for each of the six individuals, but there are box arts
for Landcross and the three pairs often found in the Victory series.
There are some Chinese stickers on it from when it was imported from Japan.
The top row contains Wing and Waver, who combine to form the robot Wingwaver
seen in between them.
The middle row contains Dash and Tacker, who combine to form the robot
Dashtacker seen in between them.
The bottom row contains Mach and Tackle, who combine to form the robot
Machtackle seen in between them.
- Inside Landcross' box
(43K, figure, 5/29/99).
This shows the inside of the package, with the figures on the left side
and the weapons and gestalt parts for Landcross on the right side.
Part of Landcross' instruction sheet can be seen near the top.
- Back of Landcross' box
(54K, figure, 5/29/99).
The upper right contains all of the 37 possible combinations you can
make from the individuals, with the central part containing a picture
of the Landcross figure as one of the 37. Below them are part of the
specs card and the tech specs bar graph for Landcross.

Waver could peg his own gun to Landcross' fist on him, but then the gun could
only point up at an angle, so I left it out here.
- Wing and Waver in robot modes
(49K, figure, 5/12/00).
- Left front view of Wingwaver
(41K, figure, 5/12/00).
He really doesn't have any fists. The guns just peg into the same holes
on the bottom of his arms used for Landcross' head.
- Close view of Wingwaver's upper body
(40K, figure, 5/12/00).
- Left side view of Wingwaver
(30K, figure, 5/12/00).
The Landcross fist on his left leg's back doesn't have to be there, but
I figure it's better there than all by itself.
- Left front above view of Waverwing
(38K, figure, 5/12/00).
He actually has fists molded into his arms, unlike Wingwaver.
- Close view of Waverwing's upper body

Takara seemed to have a little problem painting his face blue. ^_^;

Landcross
Here are my scans from the Landcross giftset box:
- Landcross's box art

This is from the front of his box. Looks neat! ^_^
- The six Multiforce robots

The box arts for the pairs also sold in separate two-packs are included here.
The bright line around their mid-sections is a demonstration of the combining
feature.

This has ten of the possible robot forms.
- Landcross' picture card
(76K, figure, 5/12/00).
It resembles his box art, but note that he is pointing his gun farther
to the right than in the art on the front. This card is on an inside
box flap.

LANDCROSS Multiforce
Function: Multi Gestalt Warrior
Transformation: 6-Robot (3-Group) Gestalt
Abilities: The assembled form of the six Multiforce warriors: Wing,
Waver, Dash, Tacker, Mach and Tackle. Best suited for
battle on Earth.
Weapon(s): Hybrid Gun (combination of the 6 warriors' weapons)
Final Attack: The "Multi Hybrid Thunder"--This torpedo technique
explodes with a combination of the forces that are the
energies of his six components: wind, water, sun, fire,
moon and earth.
- Landcross' tech specs bar graph
(95K, figure, 5/12/00).
His specs are: Strength 9, Intelligence 8, Speed 8, Endurance 9, Rank 7,
Courage 9, Firepower 9, Skill 8.
- Landcross' info card
(84K, figure, 5/12/00).
This is from another inside side box flap. It contains a sketch of
Landcross which is better than that of most Transformers in this series,
even though he has a visor here. :)
Below is Doug Dlin's English translation of the information:
Codename: Landcross Code No.: C-319
Level: 67 Origin: Planet V
Profile: The Multiforce, the new warriors at Cybertron headquarters on
planet V, are currently the most highly anticipated group of
young space fighters. As might be expected of the assembled
form of these six, Landcross's fiery young power is enough to
scare even his superiors, the Brainmasters.
Pictures of the Multiforce and Landcross can also be found in the Victory
catalogs, which I scanned in and placed in their own section
below.
Saber, Star Saber, God Ginrai/Victory Leo, and Victory Saber;
Perceptor, Wheeljack, and Minerva
God Ginrai transferred command at the beginning of the series to Star Saber,
a Brainmaster formed from a combination of a jet and its boosters.
Saber
As a Brainmaster, Saber shouts "Transform, brain set!"
when he emerges from the cockpit of his jet and transform it into a robot,
into whose chest he goes to form a face which then slides up into the head
of the
robot (49K, series, 9/4/98).
Saber is somewhat like Ultra Magnus. Thoughtful and serious, he is also
known as the greatest swordsmaster. The jet's nosecone, which normally
serves as Saber's shield in a way vaguely similar to the one used by
Overlord,
can latch onto a blade hidden away in his booster to form a long sword,
known as the Saber blade.
Star Saber
Saber can use the booster as a battle platform, as seen
here (51K, series, 9/4/98),
or combine with his booster to form the larger
Star Saber
jet (51K, series, 9/4/98)
or
robot (57K, series, 9/4/98).
He has a rifle, but he never really used it in the Victory series.
He obviously preferred swinging energy from his sword against the Destrons
and clashing his sword against their own swords, pikes, and more.
God Ginrai/Victory Leo and Perceptor, Wheeljack, and
Minerva
The Destrons eventually retaliated, of course. God Ginrai had to intervene
to aid Star Saber the first time against a new Destron gestalt,
Liokaiser.
The Destron leader
Deszaras
came close to finishing Star Saber off, only
to be thwarted by lack of energy for his huge powerful rifle's final shot.
The second time God Ginrai intervened to save Star Saber, he jumped into the
path of a death blow by Deszaras. His normally regenerative Godmaster armor
failed to repair the damage from it, bringing Perceptor, Wheeljack, and Minerva
(though they weren't actually named) to Earth to try to save him.
Here are my pictures of God Ginrai's final days, Star Saber, Jan, Perceptor,
Wheeljack, and Minerva in sequential order:
- God Ginrai keeling over to Star Saber at last
from his injuries
(63K, series, 2/1/00).
- God Ginrai talking to Star Saber
(61K, series, 2/1/00).
Here you can see part of a large hole in God Ginrai's left side.
- God Ginrai nodding off
(62K, series, 2/1/00).
- The title scene for the episode
(58K, series, 2/1/00).
This practically gave away the ending of the episode. ^_^;
- Perceptor, Minerva, and Wheeljack
working to find a way to save God Ginrai
(59K, series, 2/1/00).
- Minerva crying while Wheeljack bowed his head
(75K, series, 2/1/00).
Wheeljack's shoulder weapon was miscolored red in this one scene. ^_^;
It's white in its other appearances though.
- A close view of God Ginrai's head as he pondered
his situation
(51K, series, 2/1/00).
- Perceptor talking to God Ginrai on his biobed
(48K, series, 2/1/00).
- Perceptor in front of schematics of God Ginrai
showing the damage
(69K, series, 2/1/00).
- Minerva, Perceptor, and Wheeljack
discussing the options among themselves
(56K, series, 2/1/00).
- Flanked by Minerva and Wheeljack,
Perceptor telling God Ginrai there's nothing they could do
(57K, series, 2/1/00).
- Wheeljack coming into view and telling
Perceptor that he has an idea they should try
(57K, series, 2/1/00).
- With Perceptor and Minerva behind him,
Wheeljack explained his idea to God Ginrai
(63K, series, 2/1/00).
Perceptor apparently thought Wheeljack's idea of taking out God Ginrai's
consciousness while they rebuilt his body was too dangerous.
- A schematic of Victory Leo's lion mode
(84K, series, 2/1/00).
This is the first in a series of schematics that he showed Star Saber and
the others for his selected new body design.
- A schematic of Victory Leo's jet mode
(82K, series, 2/1/00).
Although this mode is on the show, it wasn't actually seriously implemented
for the toy figure.
- A schematic of Victory Leo's robot mode
(83K, series, 2/1/00).
His large rifle and two cannons weren't shown at this point. They were
later pulled by Victory Leo from out of the air.
- Star Saber trying to tell God Ginrai to
change his mind
(55K, series, 2/1/00).
The schematics replayed on a screen in front of and above God Ginrai,
who was trying to reassure Star Saber. Being at a disadvantage to the
Destron might, the Cybertrons needed all the strong warriors they can
get.
- Jan fearing the worst of this consciousness
transfer
(48K, series, 2/1/00).
Even if the operation was a success, this would mean the end of God Ginrai
as the Cybertrons knew him.
- Wheeljack, telling Star Saber that they were ready
to begin the operation on God Ginrai
(64K, series, 2/1/00).
- Minerva, Wheeljack, and Perceptor
starting the machinery
(58K, series, 2/1/00).
- The three manning the controls
as an intense yellow light emanated from the chamber in the floor with
God Ginrai in it
(63K, series, 2/1/00).
- Wheeljack and Perceptor at the controls
as electric strands appear from the chamber
(75K, series, 2/1/00).
- Perceptor about to give orders to the
other two
(38K, series, 2/1/00).
- Perceptor, Minerva, and Wheeljack
mourning the passing of God Ginrai
(61K, series, 2/1/00).
- Jan on the bubble over God Ginrai's chamber
and crying
(49K, series, 2/1/00).
God Ginrai's body had turned grey.
In the next episode God Ginrai was given a new body, Victory Leo, a winged lion
and jet Transformer. He has an enormous grey rifle (the V-lock rifle) and two
long thin grey cannons (the V-lock cannons). Although he is shown in the
series to be able to transform into a jet, his figure looks awkward in that
form, looking more like a gun with huge wings.
However, his lion mode looks great and has posable legs.
Victory Saber
Victory Leo can become Star Saber's power-up armor into
Victory Saber (85K, figure, 9/4/98).
Basically Victory Leo's wing backpack slides off and attaches to Star Saber's
back, and the rest of him splits in half, with each half folding to form
the black boots for Victory Saber.
Although the instructions says to put his cannons between his head and
arms, I prefer to rotate Victory Leo's black arms upwards and put the
cannons there. This increases his overall height a bit and gives Victory Saber
a greater shooting range.
Visually Victory Saber looks like a Gundam mecha, for those who have seen
the anime series. The huge grey gun, sword, and enormous wings contribute
greatly to this perception, and so does the head with its mouth plate and
long antennae. The Victory Saber figure in robot mode is 14 inches tall
from the top of his head (not including the long antennae) down to his feet.
Only
Fortress Maximus,
Grand Maximus,
Brave Maximus
(at about 23 inches tall each), and the Supreme-size Cheetor
are taller in their robot modes.
In his super jet mode the figure is even longer at 18 inches.
At the end of the series Star Saber and Victory Leo confronted Deszaras'
space fortress/cannon, which had been trapped in a dark void long ago
by Star Saber and his Cybertrons. Victory Leo knocked Liokaiser into
the fortress' highly-charged shield, effectively killing him, while
Star Saber traveled inside with Victory Leo's huge gun to deal with
Deszaras. After a pitched battle in which they traded several blows,
Deszaras fell down after his chest was penetrated by Star Saber's sword.
However, before he left the fortress and die, the Destron leader locked
up the corridors to trap Star Saber, who had left to find Jan, his adopted
human boy who destroyed the fortress' energy source. Victory Leo, who had
already made sure Jan was safe outside, transformed into his lion mode
and slashed his way into the fortress' bridge section where Star Saber was.
They combined into Victory Saber's jet mode to blast their way out with
virtually all of their explosives, and then transformed to Victory Saber's
robot mode and slammed into the fortress to destroy it for good in an
enormous blaze.
Here are my scans from the boxes for Star Saber and Victory Leo:

(142K, figure, 5/20/99).
I scanned it as two separate parts and then joined them together.
- Left side of Star Saber's box

Note that Star Saber has a battlestation mode as shown in the left
middle part. This never appears in the Victory series, though.

Abilities: A new warrior born from the science of Planet V. Possessing
the Grunium super-energy, he performs the Victory Combination
with Star Saber to become Victory Saber.
Weapon(s): V-Lock Rifle, V-Lock Cannon
Function: Armored Knight
Final Attack: The "Leo Gran-Burst"--Simultaneously fires the V-Lock
Rifle, V-Lock Cannon, and the V-Lock Vulcans attached at
his waist.
- Victory Leo's tech specs bar graph
(65K, figure, 5/21/99).
It is also from the back of his box.
His specs are: Strength 10, Intelligence 9, Speed 9, Endurance 10, Rank 8,
Courage 9, Firepower 10, Skill 10.
- Victory Leo's picture card and robot points
(69K, figure, 5/20/99 and enlarged 5/21/99).
Note that his function is given as "V former", which goes along with
his usual role as a combiner to Star Saber.
- Victory Leo's info card
(51K, figure, 5/20/99 and enlarged 5/21/99).
Unlike the pictures for many others' info cards, Victory Leo's picture
here is from his box art, not from an illustration.
Here is an English translation of the information by Doug Dlin
([email protected]):
Code Name: Victory Leo Code No.: C-327
Level: 75 Origin: Planet V
Profile: The reincarnation of God Jinrai, the previous Cybertron Supreme
Commander. Born of the Victory Plan thanks to a proposal from
the scientist Perceptor. His personality is exactly the same as
God Jinrai's was, but in an unguarded moment during the
reconstructive surgery, he temporarily lost his memory and
turned violent.
Here are my pictures involving the Star Saber and Victory Leo figures:
- Victory Leo and Star Saber
(14K, figure, 9/4/98).
Victory Leo is in lion mode and Saber is in three parts (Brainmaster,
jet, and booster).
- The Brainmaster inside the cockpit of Saber
in jet mode, with the cockpit window opened (22K, figure, 1/26/99).
- The Brainmaster and Saber in jet mode
(24K, figure, 1/26/99).
The actual Brainmaster figure has totally white arms and legs, and
a totally red chest. I simply decided to add paint to bring out the
details. Like the other Brainmasters, he looks like a miniature version
of the larger Star Saber form.
- A close view of the Brainmaster
(14K, figure, 1/26/99).
- The Brainmaster placed inside the opened
chest compartment
(32K, figure, 1/26/99).
This is part of the process of forming the head for the larger Saber robot.
- Forming the head (33K, figure, 1/26/99).
As the chest is closed, the yellow platform on which the Brainmaster stands
rises to push his legs upward and reveal the face hidden inside the
Brainmaster's body.
- Close view of Saber's head
(34K, figure, 1/26/99).
When the chest door is fully closed, the face is finally in place.
- Front view of Saber in robot mode
(21K, figure, 1/26/99).
- Both in robot modes
(16K, figure, 9/4/98).
- Both in jet modes, top view
(19K, figure, 9/4/98).
- Close view of Star Saber's head
(17K, figure, 9/14/98).
Notice that he has a pair of vertical notches on each side of his
mouth plate, similar to the triplet of vertical notches on the original
Optimus Prime's mouth plate. I put on only the yellow sticker on his
head because he never has the other head stickers in the series. The
other head stickers are a blue square on the front of the topmost part
of his helmet, and the white tech-pattern stickers on the sides just
above the face.
- Victory Leo in lion mode in a stalking pose
(20K, figure, 9/14/98).
- Victory Leo in lion mode outside
(35K, figure, 9/24/99).
- Victory Leo in robot mode
(13K, figure, 9/14/98).
- Close view of Victory Leo's head,
with silver chrome face, and the golden "V" insignia on his chest
(12K, figure, 9/14/98).
Both Star Saber and Victory Leo have the golden "V" insignia, and are
the only Cybertrons who have them.

Yes, the three cadmium yellow missiles are for the large rifle. ^_^
The following are some of my pictures of Victory Saber in his super combined
jet mode:
Here are my pictures of Victory Saber in his huge super robot mode:
- My model of God Ginrai (preliminary version)
and Victory Saber (12K, figure, 9/4/98).
- Large left front view
(55K, figure, 11/2/98).
- Large rear view
(54K, figure, 11/2/98).
Note Victory Leo's lion head looking out as if guarding the back.
Technically the robot arms for Victory Leo could be lowered and positioned
to make Victory Saber look like two robots with their backs to each other.
- Deszaras and Victory Saber
(61K, figure, 9/24/99).
- Victory Saber by himself
(32K, figure, 9/24/99).
The following is an English translation of Victory Saber's specs card
(from the back of the giftset box), his bio info card (from an inside box flap),
and his tech specs bar graph card (from the back of the giftset box),
respectively, by Doug Dlin
([email protected]):
VICTORY SABER Brainmaster
Function: Ultimate Supreme Commander
Transformation: Super-large Jet
Abilities: The result of the Victory Combination of Victory Leo, split
up by the V-Lock, and Star Saber. His entire body
strengthened by the V-Lock and Grunium energy, he explodes
with ultimate power.
Weapon(s): V-Lock Rifle, V-Lock Cannon
Final Attack: The "Victory Burn"--Collects the energy emitted from the
V-Lock Skies in his wings and V-Lock Grounds in his feet
into his Saber Blade.
Card Info:
Codename: Victory Saber Code No.: C-328
Level: 80 Origin: Planet V
Profile: Placed in dire straits by the Destrons' tremendous assault,
Star Saber powers up with Victory Leo's strength. Far
stronger of mind and body than he was before, in many ways he
can be called the best one of Cybertron's successive Supreme
Commanders.

My scans of the transformation instruction sheet for Star Saber
can be found on this page

Scans by Heli ([email protected])
of Star Saber's sticker sheet can be found on my inserts page
here.
It should be noted that all Star Saber stickers don't stick very well to
their surfaces, but applying a glue stick to them will fix that problem
very well.
My scans of the transformation instruction sheet for Victory Leo and
their gestalt Victory Saber can be found on this page

Here are some of my pictures involving Star Saber from the series itself:
- Being chopped up by Deszaras
(66K, series, 9/24/99).
The Destron swung his sword several times, too. ;)
- Clashing swords with Deszaras
(76K, series, 9/24/99).
- At Deszaras' non-existent mercy
(61K, series, 9/24/99).
Star Saber had just received a large deadly slash across his chest
and a large bombardment from Deszaras' mighty gun. This is a close
view of his head after Deszaras had transformed to his robot mode to
connect directly into his gun, and to fire once again with another
massive energy blast.
- The moment of truth
(56K, series, 9/24/99).
Deszaras turned his weapon toward Star Saber as the scene turns blue
right before he pulled the trigger.
- Saved by lack of energy
(65K, series, 9/24/99).
Fortunately for Star Saber, Deszaras had used up his surplus energy
in his previous blasts. :D Here you can see the slash across
Star Saber's chest.
More pictures of Star Saber, Victory Leo, and Victory Saber can also be
found in the Victory catalogs, which I scanned in and placed in their own section
just down below.
