KASSANDRA
in the Greek mythology
KASSANDRA in the Greek mythology is the daughter of Priam and Hekuba. Apolon endowed Kassandra
with the talent to foretell, because he feld in love with her. But she refuse to return Apolon's feelings, that's
why he punished her and all her skilful words people don't accept seriously. The more latest variant of the
myth says that Kassandra with her twin - brother Helen got foretell talent in early childhood from sacred snakes
in the temple of Apolon. Kassandra first get to know Paris, who appeared in Troya for the track-and-field
events, and want to kill him because she want to rescue her nativeland from calamities which Paris got into
a scrape Troya later. She persuade Paris don't married with Helena and later she persuade the Troyans
don't beleave in Sinon's words and don't take the wooden-horse in the town, but nobody beleaved in her
oracles. In the night when the Troya fall down, Kassandra asked for refuge from Athena's altar, but Ayaks
draged away her. As a captive she became a bondwoman of Agamemnon and died with him by the hand
of Klitemnestra, who saw in her a rival.
In the historical epoch in many different places in the Pelopones are showed the burial mound and the temple
of Kassandra, who was identify with the local divinity Alexandra.
The tragical image of Kassandra, who prophesy in oracular ecstasy the terribly visions of the future, is imprinted
in  Eshil's "Agamemnon" /1035-1330/ and Evripid's "Troyans" /294-461/, in the same time in the poem
"Alexandra" written by the poet from III B.C. Likofron is reflected comparatively late version of the myth,
