001 [1.01-95] Welcome to New York / Willkommen in New York!

    Kirk Hartman is a carefree bachelor who recently graduated college
    and, as an aspiring illustrator, is currently working in New York
    City as a sign painter. But his life takes an unexpected turn when
    his aunt stops on her way to Florida at his appartment to off-load
    his three siblings. Now as a parent, things don't go that easy and
    after he has to work longer than expected he can't pick up Russell
    after school. He transfers that duty to Corey - but Corey just loses
    Russell on his way home. Now Russell is even less enthusiastic about
    his new life in New York than he was before and turns sulky. This
    ruins a date with his newly-met, attractive neighbor Elizabeth.

002 [1.02-95] s'Wonderbra / Eine delikate Angelegenheit

    After Kirk has learned that Phoebe asked Elizabeth if she'd go with
    her buying a bra, Kirk decides he's parent enough to take on this
    'job' himself. So he goes shopping and hands it over to Phoebe as a
    present. But he doesn't pay enough attention to the sensitivity of
    this situation and it ends extremely embarrassing for Phoebe - and
    finally for Kirk, too.

003 [1.03-95] Night at the Movies / Was fuer ein Tag

    A date, arranged by Eddie, turns out extremely rushy when Corey can't
    baby-sit (because he has to go to the library) and Kirk decides to
    take his siblings along to the movies. He places them both in front
    of a movie and he himself goes with his date to another - where he
    also runs into Corey! He orders Corey should (at least now) take care
    of his two siblings. But Phoebe and Russell have already left ...

004 [1.04-95] Magnoman vs. Captain Chunks / Der Comic-Wettbewerb

    A forwarded mail from Ohio talks about a comic book contest held in
    New York, in order to find a new comic-hero, with the deadline just
    one day away. So Kirk, who already has created such a figure, works
    all night to finish a complete story. Done, a sick Russell comes into
    his way and nearly destroys the sketches. Already too late for the
    contest, Eddie brings up a new chance when he announces he knows Stan
    Lee, the one in charge of this contest.

005 [1.05-95] Love! Valor! Deception! / Tombola des Herzens

    Kirk, once again turned down by Elizabeth, agrees to Eddie's plan
    to go to a party of the rich to meet and come closer to her there.
    Just hearing about this opportunity Kirk already dreams about a
    perfect evening there but at the party his dream hits reality big
    time. At home Phoebe takes on the baby-sitting: But a 'mishop' by
    Russell then could mean that that's her last baby-sitting job for
    a very long time.

006 [1.06-95] Smart and Smarter / Das Genie

    A test result places Corey's score well above Phoebe's. Always
    thinking that she's the smartest in the family this is now a
    unpleasant situation for Phoebe - and an even more unpleasant
    after Corey gets an invitation from an elite-school ... a school
    which she actually wanted to attend. After a minor accident in the
    hall Eddie wants to sue the owner - and Sally's now after him to
    proof he's cheating.

    Russell has developed a crush on his teacher. When she asks Kirk for
    help and then thanks him with an invitation for lunch, Russell gets
    jealous and Kirk into trouble because he accepted this 'date' although
    he knew of Russell's feelings. Along with the games, Corey lost also
    some (quite expensive) stakes. Now it's up to Phoebe to win the stuff
    back ...

    It's Halloween time! The kids and even Kirk are looking forward to
    a typical Halloween day and evening. But New York isn't Ohio and
    they have to learn this the hard way. And then a little joke, Eddie
    wanted to play on Kirk, also goes awry when a policeman mistakes it
    as an atempted break-in and locks up Kirk.

    After Kirk rescued her purse, Sabrina Young, an art patron, wants to
    thank Kirk her way: with expensive presents and the offer to promote
    his drawings. But then Kirk once again listens to Eddie ...

010 [1.10-95] Kirk Unplugged / Ein toedliches Missverstaendnis

    To afford his own telephone Corey takes on Kirk's advice and seeks
    a job. Elizabeth helps and gets him a job at the hospital. After a
    humiliating moment in a patient's room he doesn't dare to enter it
    again. Kirk, who came by, offers to come along. When he wants to
    pull the plug from Corey's hoover he gets the wrong one and thinks
    now that he pulled the plug from the patient who died shortly before.

011 [1.11-95] A Kiss is Just a Kiss /Russell wird Vater

    When Russell announces that his girlfriend gets a baby it's time for
    Kirk to tell him 'where the babies come from' - which ain't easy. So
    he uses a town in Minnesota and a rainbow as the source. Corey has
    problems finding a science project and gets help from Eddie who seeks
    revenge for Phoebe who played a trick on him.

012 [1.12-95] The Christmas Show / Ein Unglueck kommt selten allein

    It's Christmas time - and Kirk gets fired. But that's not the
    only thing that happens to Kirk: bad luck accompanies him where
    ever he goes and whatever he does, including the presents for the
    kids stolen and a turned off power supply.

013 [1.13-96] The Spare / Mit Kind und Kegel

    The Hartman-Bowling-Team made it: they won the semifinals of the
    local championships. The only team in their way are now the Banduccis
    - which should be no problem. But then Sally has to quit because of
    her back and the Hartmans now need a fourth member ... and they turn
    to Elizabeth. She's really bad and as Kirk can't throw her out of the
    team, they enter the finals with her. To heat up the game some bets
    are placed.

014 [1.14-96] The Love Letter / Schreib mal wieder

    Kirk accidentally opens a letter meant for Elizabeth. Knowing this
    would be wrong he doesn't want to read the letter ... but Eddie is
    different. So Kirk learns that the letter is from Elizabeth's ex Guy
    who's in town and wants to meet her. Eddie persuades Mike not to hand
    over the (already destroyed) letter and soon Kirk regrets listening to
    him. So he personally meets Guy and encourages him to take on another
    try, reducing his own chances. Guy tries again, he meets Elizabeth and
    proposes to her... Russell takes care of the class's pet, a bird who
    knows some tricks, and Corey let him fly out the window.

015 [1.15-96] Double Date / Doppeltes Spiel

    After Kirk learned that he has forgotten Russell's field trip he
    promises to be at his school play. And, finally, Kirk gets his date
    with Elizabeth. But then the play is two days earlier than expected
    putting Kirk's date in jeopardy. So he figures out a plan how to
    handle both the play (where he also plays a part) and the date ...

016 [1.16-96] Stuck on You / Die Klassen-Fete

    Corey got his ears pearced which is quite cool but also dangerous
    when getting kissed. Phoebe asks out a boy (after being encouraged
    by Kirk and Eddie) for the school dance. After this boy canceled
    because of a 'broken leg', Kirk steps in and goes with Phoebe to
    the dance.

    When her apartment is destroyed by a fire Elizabeth has to look out
    for a new home for a week. Kirk offers her to move in with him and
    the kids. To do something she starts cleaning the apartment top-down
    and inside-out driving all mad, especially Kirk. So Elizabeth and
    Kirk clash right on the day of Kirk's birthday surprise-party, which
    was planned by the kids, Eddie and Sally.

018 [1.18-96] Hey, Hey, We're the Martins / Coreys Band

    Corey is in a new, quite good, rock band. When one of the members is
    grounded they are in need of a new guitarist. The other two members
    offer this part Kirk, who impressed them with his skills. Corey
    reluctantly agrees as it would only be for one gig. But things go
    different and Kirk's stays longer than expected - and gets all the
    attention. And this just there, where Corey thought he could be
    'someone', better than Kirk. Eddie tries to find out the secret
    ingredients of his mother's spaghetti sauce to make the big money.

    Corey and his friends won a free ride with a limo through New York
    City. The only problem is Kirk, who after some back and forth,
    finally decides against allowing it. After some discussing and a
    lot of help from Eddie and Elizabeth, Kirk lets him reluctantly go.
    For the three boys in the limo it's really not an exciting evening,
    at least not until a highly pregnant woman enters the car. At home,
    with Corey overdue, Kirk gets really nervous and then he also gets
    a call that the boys have stolen the limo ...

    A sore throat turns out to be tonsilitis - for both, Russell and
    Kirk! Now Kirk, who told Russell how simple a tonsilectomy is,
    also is afraid of the operation. And while Russell gets a skilled
    doctor, Kirk gets Elizabeth. Oh, by the way, this would be her
    first one ...

    New York is hit by a heat wave and so Elizabeth's invitation for Kirk
    and his siblings to spend the weekend in her parents' beach house
    is really welcomed. Kirk is ready to spend some time with Elizabeth
    there but it's not that easy: Russell, after watching 'Jaws' is
    afraid of the beach, Corey should learn for a test and Eddie is
    also around.
