    With the starting of the new football season, Taylor - tired of
    losing - quits the team. He advises his dad against making such
    an effusive speech at the presentation because the team won't win
    again anyway.

    Nab has a date and he insists that Herman accompanies him to the movies
    where later Nab's date Amanda hits on Herman. When Nab finds this out
    he's mad at Herman. Herman has another problem, too. Harlan, on diet,
    tells Richard Simmons, the one who puts together the diet program, that
    he lost 150 pounds thanks to it. Surprisingly, Simmons pays a visit to
    meet Harlan for a report (after all, losing 150 pounds is something).
    Now Herman shall play Harlan ...

    he reluctantly follows Ava's advice to consult Harlan. Reluctantly
    also because he knows how Harlan treats this kind of things - and
    he should be right. Soon the whole town knows about Wood's bedroom
    problems ...

    chance he can't miss. Ava, however, is not pleased ...

    The apartment house where Herman is living is changed into a condo.
    So he has two possibilities: pay more or leave. And since he can't
    afford it he must do the latter - seeking a new home. But that's not
    so easy. So Ava comes up with the idea that he should move into Frieda's
    (who's terribly suffering since Thor left). Herman has doubts but he
    gives it a shot - and more than his worst nightmares come true. Since
    Frieda wouldn't be enough, now also Margaret turns mad because he
    moves in with another woman ...

061 [3.11-92] Carl the Mule / Bringt mir den Kopf von Carl!

    Totally frustrated after another loss Wood takes into consideration
    that he might be the problem - and resigns. The new man in charge
    now is Herman. Instead of the team Wood now wants to open his own
    shop. During a game Carl, the team's seal, freaks out and Herman
    takes care of it since it needs a new place to live.

    to be a preacher man worthy.

064 [3.14-93] The Private School / Die seelische Erleuchtung

    Molly's friends will go to the Oakwood Academy, a private shool, next
    year. Molly herself wants to go there, too. Somehow reluctantly Wood
    and Ava agree to at least take a look at it since Molly plays the
    dissapointed and deeply hurted after they have turned down her wish.
    The teaching style impresses them and they are willing to let Molly
    go even if they can hardly afford it. But there's an entrance exam
    - not for the kid but for the parents - which Wood and Ava fail ...
    Nab goes on a date with Amanda.

    It's time to give a baby shower for Fontana. It will be at Ava's and
    each of the women takes on a part of the duties. But subsequently Ava
    takes away the responsibilities from the others. Herman has a new job,
    he joined the security team of Reba McEntire. Ava, also in charge of
    the music, now wants to get exactly Reba for the shower. This should
    be no big deal since Herman knows her quite well - unfortunately Herman
    lied a little bit and when Ava wants to persuade her, a bothered
    Reba calls security - and Herman arrests Ava ...

    Ava invited Aurelia Danforth, a leading person during the civil rights
    movement in the sixties and now an honored person, to a commemoration
    for Martin Luther King, jr. Back then Ponder was also an activist,
    leading the Arkansas group to Washington. Now they both meet again,
    and again sparks fly. Will has problems with a bully at school.

    On the same evening he wants to go on a dance with Aimee, Taylor
    learns that she's eloped with Dwight. Taylor's totally devastated
    and it doesn't take a long time until Dwight's now-ex Daisy shows
    up to load the blame for this incident on Taylor. Somehow they then
    team up to find Aimee and Dwight and take them to task. And Taylor
    knows exactly where they could be: At Skip's where one year earlier
    he and Aimee got married ...

    Scout cries day and night - but as soon as Evan appears she calms
    down. The stress with the baby and the fact that she and Merleen
    wants to open their own business distresses Fontana that much that
    she wants to throw away everything. Nab, assisted by Harlan, writes
    a detective novel. Wood and Herman attend a convention of high-school
    football coaches.

    It's Wood's turn in the 'Parents support Teachers' program, which
    basically means that he has to teach a class. And even for a pro
    like Wood, Will's class is no fun. Herman's former teacher, mentor
    and idol pays Herman a visit.

074 [3.24-93] Saint Bobby / Traeume

    A video with the team's highlights (consisting basically of Taylor's
    highlights) should get Bobby Bowden - headcoach at Florida State - to
    Evening Shade and Taylor a scholarship. But Bobby's eyes hasn't fallen
    for No.22, Taylor, but for No.88, Merl - not knowing that Merl is a
    girl in Wood's team.

    The plans for summer are dropped when Taylor announces that after
    his graduation ceremony he's leaving for Houston where he landed
    a job at Astroworld. For the ceremony the school's in need of a
    high-profile star and Herman tries to get John Denver via his
    cousin. With Taylor leaving, the team's in need of a new quarterback.
