He's sooooo mega-ultra-kawaii!!!
Irashaimase!!! This is my special shrine to the one and only XELLOSS! In this page, we explore my obsession w/ this adorable, sugoi mazoku and learn to stare at his ever-so-lovely visage. So first up, some reasons for my current obsession:
A: B/c he's sexy, he has an irresistable charm, he's very charismatic, he comes up w/ the most cutest phrases like "yare, yare" or "iyaaah!", he has a wonderful sense of style *esp. in the pic above*, he's sooo adorable when winks and says: "Sore wa himitsu desu!", he is extremely hot when he gets into his "bad-ass" mode, he's ultra powerful, he's unpredictable...need I say more? ^_^ As for how he dethroned the beautiful Ken-san, well simply I prefer male seiyuu's b/c I don't find a female seiyuu playing a man (no matter how sexily he's drawn) anyway comparable to a male playing the same role (unless it's dubbed >_< *shudders* there are just no excuses for dubs!) Now I love Ken-san, but I much prefer him as Battousai. I guess it's also partially b/c I hated the way the terebi ended...thought it was much too weak after the "Kyoto arc" (couldn't follow the manga, could they >_<) where as I love Slayers all around as a show with or without Xelloss. Of course Xelloss for me is what makes the show happen, but w/out him I still enjoy Slayers. W/ Rurouken on the other hand, for me Kenshin's chara development is what made me such an avid fan. W/out him, for me there's not much left.
A: OF COURSE!! ...don't hafta ask me twice :) Actually even though he doesn't really fit in my definition of mega-kawaiiness, I still love his seiyuu Ishida Akira (This links you to Hitoshi Doi's Ishida Akira page).
Basic Info About Xelloss: mostly everyone who watches Slayers probably knows this info. but if you don't, pls. turn a blind eye, this may contain some spoilers. Xelloss is of the mazoku race (Software Sculptors translates them as "Monsters"). He is under the command of Beast Master Zelas-Metallium one of the 5 strongest mazoku. Mah-ryu-oh Gaav as some of you may recall was also one of the 5, but he was killed off by Hellmaster Phibrizzo in Slayers Next. Now basically, each beast master has a general and priest under their command but Xelloss was given the power of both. 
This makes him extremely powerful as Gaav commented on in Slayers Next. He has no given age, but he has been credited w/ killing several gold dragons during the Koma war over 1000 yrs. ago. (As Gourry said: "This makes you a really old man!!!"). Now b/c he is a mazoku, he has pledged his loyalty to that race, and can't do anything w/out permission from his superior (Zelas). For instance in Slayers Try when Lina asks him why he couldn't save a particular village, he merely says that: "I couldn't, I'd get into trouble." Impish by nature, he is quite confident (even cocky at times) but he tends to underestimate his opponents (Valgaav in Try and Gaav in Next). In Slayers Next Gaav comments that Xelloss's specialty (in attacking) is inter-dimensional warping (^_^ he's sooo sneaky!) but in Try you get to see him in some heavy action, so I'm not quite sure if this is true. The only conventional (chanted) spells I have seen him cast were the "Burst Bomb" using the talisman he later gave Lina to amplify the spell, and repelling Filia's judgement spell in Slayers Try. His only known weakness is positive energy/feelings, as mazoku are supposed to thrive on the negative aspects of life. You've got to see ep. 22 of Slayers Try for a wicked example of this. Not to give anything away, let's just say: "Jinsei to subarashiiii!!" Xelloss's first appearance in the Slayers manga is in vol. 6 (which I have ^_^). The storyline is quite different than from the Slayers Next terebi, but the charas are the same. You do get to see Xelloss in fighting action, and he gets a lot more exposure than he does in the terebi. One thing to note is that Martina is nowhere to be seen (thank god ;P).
Xelloss' seiyuu is actually my favourite as well. I first found out about Ishida-san through one of my other animale superstars, the splendid Kaworu Nagisa. I absolutely loved his voice so you bet I was thrilled when I recognized him as my pretty, pretty mazoku-boy. He's also been in several other famous anime like Marmalade Boy and the FY oav II series, but his portrayal of Xelloss has thus far been my favourite. Unfortunately I've had the horrible pleasure of viewing one of the Slayers Next dubs and I have to say that the US seiyuu (David Moo) doesn't do Ishida-san justice. He makes Xel sound like this annoying nerd. I know to the other charas in Slayers that Xelloss's annoyance is his speciality (esp. to Zelgadis ^_^), but I much rather prefer Ishida-san's interpretation of the chara to David Moo's. (Gomen nasai if I've offended anyone out there.)
