propagation talk |
A: This is a piece of albo-lacinatus, "Ruth Wilcox", before and after trimming to remove all but the top eye. Even this could go for a cutting graft.
B: The scion has been trimmed and inserted as a wedge graft and is ready for wrapping.
C: Two weeks later, there's action as the shooting commences.
D & E: At 4 weeks the tape can be removed and the top shoot of the root-stock is ready for trimming.
F & G: After 8 weeks, the new plant is crying out for potting on or packing for mail-order after being hardened away from the igloo and the hot bed.
H: Alternatively, the root-stock as seen here, is grown to this stage in 3-4 weeks and then grafted.
