Celia's clock ticks on

THE station clock which became an icon of British cinema after featuring in the 1954 film Brief Encounter is to be restored next year. The clock, under which Celia Johnson palpitated with passion, has not worked since the 1970s when its mechanism was sold. The parts have been traced to a London dealer and will be restored as part of a £1.5million upgrading of Carnforth Station, Lancs.
