The new locomotive shed of the LMSR
at Carnforth, completion of which was delayed by war conditions, has now been brought
fully into use. Mr Ian S. Pearsall writes; due to the overcrowding of the old LNWR shed,
it has been in partial use for over a year past. The old Midland Shed, which is some
distance from the Station, on the east side of the West Coast main line, and the main
Kendal road, has now been closed, with the signal box giving access to the Midland,
locomotive yard.
