The Potters shown here have sail rigs that have been radically modified from the original configurations of the Gunter, Mk I or Mk II P-14/15 boats. These variants include cutter, yawl, and lateen rigs.

Manatee Lateen view 2

"Oldsurfdude" sailing his lateen-rigged P-14, Popeye. The mast sleeve hole in the cabin roof is about an inch back from the front of the cabin.

Son Ben is holding down Popeye. The 6 foot red streamer from Wooden Boat Magazine is used as a telltale.

This view of Popeye's cabin shows the halyard on the port side, the mainsheet on the boom, and the great visibility.

The sleeve into which the lateen mast fits, the "spider" as a base, and the bolt about half way up, upon which rests Popeye's mast.
