Pacific Parrotlets

Pacific Parrotlets (Forpus coelestis), are only about 5 inches long and weigh in at a hefty 30 grams.  Wild Pacific Parrotlets are found from Western Equador to Northern Peru.  The males differ from the hens by the cobalt-blue eye streak and the cobalt-blue coloring on the wings and rump.
When they stand still, they sort of look like a big pickle with wings. But most of the time, they remind me more of a feisty hot jalepeno pepper. Parrotlets are little birds with big attitudes.

Green Rumped Parrotlets

Green Rumped Parrotlets, are even smaller than the Pacific Parrotlets. My little Cupid is only 4 inches long and weighs 20 grams. He is a beautiful emerald green color. His rump is a bright green, instead of blue like the pacific males. The wings are accented with gorgeous cobalt blue primary wing feathers, and turquise secondary wing feathers. The little hens are all green, except for the cute little yellow forehead.
