At the Battle of Fredericksburg he received a wound in the foot which
resulted in tetanus (Lockjaw) from which he recovered this being the first
cure of that disease on record of the army that recovered.

On 17-Nov-1864 was taken prisoner near Bermuda . In Libby prison where
he remained three weeks. He was then removed to Salisbury, North Carolina

he was mustered out of service..
