Christian farmed in Antrim Twp,Franklin Co,Pa about 10 miles north of Hagerstown across the Pennsylvania border.
1788 tax roll shows he had 4 horses, 6 cows and by 1790 an additional horse and 150 acres.
His will instructs his sons John and Henry to build their mother a " commodious house".

John was the eldest son of Christian and Margaret Snively. As the eldest son he inherited his father's " mansion house".

In addition to $2,000, he willed to his wife Anna, "one horse creature and one cow, both to be of her choice, and privilege to keep two hogs on said farm.. the full use of the new house where in I now reside during her natural life and all the household
and kitchen furniture therein, including beds and bedsteads,clock, and stove, and I allow that my son Jacob shall supply my said wife sufficiency of firewood ready to cut as she may require and of good quality and also to furnish her with feed for her horse creature and cow, winter and summer, with stable room when she may request and stabling of her hogs, and said Jacob is to deliver yearly to my wife...20 bu. of wheat, 100 weight of beef and 300 weight of pork and as many potatoes as she may wish for her own use and as many apples and cider as she may desire for herself and privilege to as much garden as she think necessary.."
