bullet Samuel REID was born in 1750. Samuel enlisted as a soldier in the Revolutionary Army, in which he faithfully served until peace was declared, and America was freed from the yoke of England. After the war he settled in the Valley of Virginia, in probably Nelson County. Many of his descendants now
live in Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, and other states of the Union.

Samuel and Suity Reid emigrated to Kentucky where they settled on the waters of Paint Lick Creek, in Garrard County in 1782. They lived and died on the same farm near old Paint Lick Church. Parents: Alexander REID.

Ga. was a successful drawer in GA "Land Lottery, 1827" as a Rev. soldier and in same district in US Census in 1830, and in 1840 and Abbeville Dist. SC in 1800 US Census (5 in family). This Samuel Reid was b 26 Jan 1749 in Lancaster Co. Pa. son of George Reid who moved to Rowan Co. NC and when Samuel was 13 years old (Abt. 1762??) again moved to Abbeville District, SC After 1800 and before 1806 Samuel moved to Pendleton Dist. SC and from there he moved to Pendleton Dist. SC and from there he moved to Gwinnett Co. GA. The land granted him in Gwinnett as Rev. soldier was in name of Samuel Reid. He remained in Fincher's Dist. Gwinnett Co. Ga, until the death of his wife, in 1840, when he moved his children in St. Clair Co. AL where he d. 5 Feb 1843 aged 94 years 9 days. He had with him at this death the family Bible record of his father, George Reed, showing his birth aforesaid. Asa Reid, son of George Reid II, grandson of George Reid I, and Great-great grandson of immigrant Alexander, was a resident in the same District in Gwinnett co. Ga. with said Samuel. He died on 5 Feb 1843 in Saint Clair County, Alabama. Parents: Captain George REID.

Samuel Reid 1728-1810 served as a member of the Committee of Safety for Rowan Co., N. C. In 1780 he commanded a company in Colonel Alexander's regiment, General Rutherford's brigade, North Carolina militia. He was born in Rowan Co., N. C. died in Putman County, Ga.

Copied from papers owned by Miss Anna Jordan, a descendant of Agnes Reid, is a Church letter which states: "That Agnes Reed, heath Lived in this Congregation from a child and heath Behaved hirself Christianly and soberly and free of any publick scandel known to us and maybe Received into any Christian Society wherver God in his providence may order hir lott, is Certified this the 16th day of September 1755."
