Michael was killed while he, Nancy and 3 other couples were flying back to Levelland, Texas from a weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada. The airport in Alberqurque put the wrong type of fuel in the twin engine airplane. Both engines quit at about 1000 Ft. A successful emergency landing was made on an old abandoned road but as the aircraft rolled toward a stop it hit a culvert. The impact destroyed the cockpit area where Michael was sitting as the Co-pilot. Just before impact and thinking that they had made a safe landing he turned to Nancy in the rear of the plane and said "I Love You, Honey". At that instant he was killed. The mental trauma for Nancy was unbearable and it was several years before she recovered fully. Only the pilot (Jerry) and Michael were killed in the crash. The others suffered various injuries.
