"Their father afforded them ever facility for education in his power, and embraced every opportunity of sending them into pious, intelligent society, both at home and abroad. They were remarkable for their strength of character, candor, sincerity, generosity, hospitality, social, affectionate dispositions, and for their unsuspicious and confiding natures. In personal appearance Margaret, Archibald, Phoebe, Elizabeth and Nancy resembled their father--had dark hair, and eyes; Andrew, Sarah, John and Marth had blue eyes light hair and fair complexion. Among Their descendants and those with whom they have inter-married, there are about twenty Presbyterian Ministers" NRG 1857

"Nine children of William and Agnes Alexander lived to be old; some of them very aged. All retained Thier faculties in full vigor to the last, and were beautiful examples of a happy and cheerful old age. There all connected themselves in early life with the Presbyterian church, and were remarkable for their devoted piety. A very large number of their descendents are also members of the Church, thus verifying the promise: 'I will be a God to thee and to thy seed after Thee They were much indebted to their pastor, Rev. William Graham, for their early piety, education and desire for knowledge"
