"Henry Brasher lived on Four Mile Creek.
Brothers Thomas and Samuel had store on hill above famous spring at head of
Bullace Creek. Removed to Columbiana. The Brasher brothers were men of
reputation for high character and business capacity and ultimately acquired a
fine property. Both served in Legislature."

Came to Natchez area in 1780 from Bullitt Co Kentucky after having lived in
Brownsville, Pensylvania. He was an official of the U S Govt dealing
negotiations with the Choctaw Nations part of what is now Mississippi. He
played an important role in negotiating the boundaries of the Choctaw on the
West. At Walnut Hill (now Vicksburg, Miss.) he was known as Captain Brashear.
He had a colony of 40 men in Chickasaw Indian Country at Chickasaw Bluffs (now
Memphis, Tenn.). In 1797 he was contacted by the Sec of State, Timothy
Pickering through U S Comm Andrew Ellicott to council with Chief Pooshamataha
of the Choctaw Nations about runors of discontent among the Choctaws. After
service as advisor to the U S Govt on Indian affairs he established a
plantation known as "Brashers Fields" on the Natchez Trace a few miles cast of
what is now Ridgeland above Jackson, Miss. Since he was not included in the
1831 Choctaw Census, it is assumed he died between 1821-1831. He married a
Choctaw Indian girl whose name is unknown. Their son is Robert Turner Brashear
born in 1775 in Spanish Territory, that is now Mississippi and died in 1831.
Robert Turner Brashear who was one-half Choctaw blood married Nancy Vaughn who

not known. died 1781, Bullitt Co, Kentucky. Married Anne Ray of Maryland. About
1770 they moved to Brownsville, Pennsylvania. Moved in 1779 to Virginia(now
the Commonwealth of Kentucky). Settled near the mouth of Floyd's fork of Salt
River, in what is now Bullitt Co. According to tradition, he was surprised by
