The 67-foot
steel cutter, 2041, set off from England in late December 1999, on a
mission to raise awareness concer-ning pollution in the Antarc-tic. The
crew was comprised of three Brits (who were professional sailors) plus 6-8
different people on each of the six legs, selected by the corporate sponsors of
"Mis-sion Antarctica." We set off from Ushuaia on March 6, sailed down the
Beagle Channel and across the Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands and
the Antarctic peninsula, and then returned to Ushuaia on March
22.
