Real Russia

"...and always remember that a trip to the Soviet Union can be a wonderful personal and professional experience as long as you are well prepared, use common sense and do not expect everything to be like in the U.S."

* FES - Frequently Encountered Stereotypes and unusual questions

* Some good Russian links - annotated, very few, the best of the best (for the purposes of this page, of course).

* FES-related humor

* Real Russian Language - that what it is, a phrase book for use in any situation

E-mail me - I'd very much like to hear your opinion about this page in general. I also have a few specific questions:

News:

10/20/99 - One of the visitors suggested setting up a chapter dedicated to FES-related humor. I think, it's a great idea - done.

10/24/99 - One of my friends, formerly known as Krot, agreed to rewrite my "lame" (according to him) note about "Siberia - the land of criminals" stereotype and answer any further questions about that. He has some first-hand knowledge of the issue in question and as a payment for his services he only asked for an office of the art editor of this page so I agreed. I thought it was a good deal until he told me he is colorblind and very, very busy at the moment.

11/14/99 - There was a suggestion about "Real Russian Language" section - done. Send us your words (or questions). We reserve the right not to publish the most dangerous expressions. :)

11/16/99 - We got more stereotypes and a new author. Mr. 007 sent us a nice letter in which he pointed out some mistakes, added two stereotypes and offered to deal with questions about KGB/FSB as he claims to be an officer of that structure. His first answer is in FES. Don't worry, we won't give him your e-mails! :)

***

01/24/01- The project has been put to sleep. The founding father is racing around the world, following his lucky bird, his friends and children are busy with their lives and nobody is here now, in the empty house, just the wind. I will delete time-sensitive materials and stuff that don't matter anymore and leave, too. The door will stay open, feel free.. And yeah, I will chek the e-mail once in while. Good luck with what you are doing and jis la revida! Hastalavista! Doz vidanya! :)
