The Arizona Diamondbacks had the best offensive game in their brief history Wednesday night. Matt Williams hit his 16th homer and Steve Finley had four extra-base hits and four RBIs, including a three-run triple, to help the Diamondbacks pound the Montreal Expos 15-2.

``We've been playing really well this whole trip,'' Gonzalez said. ``We really came together as an offensive club.'' Luis Gonzalez went 3-for-6 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
``I fell behind on too many hitters,'' Vazquez said. ``You can't do that against such a good offensive team. A guy like Finley, for example, has been seeing the ball so well lately that he'll make you pay for any little mistake.''

"We've been swinging the bat and the pitching's been great,'' Finley said. ``You get that combination and you're going to win some games.''

Sosa named NL Player of Month

Currently the Chicago Cubs are only 2 games back from the division leading Houston Astros and on June 3,1999 Sammy Sosa was named NL Player of the month "May".
Sosa batted .321, drove in 27 runs and scored 26 last month. He finished the first two months of the season with 17 homers, four more than he had at the same point last year.The monthly award is the third for Sosa, who first received the honor in July, 1996. He also captured the award last June after hitting 20 homers and driving in 40 runs. Sosa's performance helped the Cubs to a 17-10 record in May.
