Hulk Hogan's Biography
The great Hulk Hogan started out his career in 1979, joining the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) as
a heel. He wrestled under the alias of Sterling Golden and used the Sterling Squeeze Bear Hug as his
finishing manuever. While in the NWA, he won one title, the NWA SouthEastern Heavyweight title.

Later in 1979, Hogan was noticed by Vince McMahon, the owner of the World Wrestling Federation
(WWF). He used the alias of Hulk Hogan and had Freddy Blassie for his manager. He remained a heel,
and received many title shots, but didn't win any at this point in time.

From 1980 through 1985, he wrestled many times for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), and won the
IWGP World Heavyweight Title once.

In 1981, Hogan jumped ship from the WWF to the AWA. He entered the AWA as a heel, but got a huge
face reaction from the crowd, the AWA had no choice but to turn him face. Hulkamania was soon born
and in 1982 for a time he had the AWA World Heavyweight title.

In 1984, the Hulk Hogan we all know was born when he returned to the WWF. The true era of
Hulkamania was born on January 23, 1984, when the Hulkster defeated the Iron Sheik for the WWF
World Heavyweight Title. He then feuded with Andre the Giant. His four year title reign ended when
Andre the Giant defeated him on February 5, 1988. Hogan then teamed up with Macho Man Randy
Savage, but the team soon split over their manager, Elizabeth. He defeated Savage for his second WWF
Title on April 4, 1989. This title reign lasted nearly a year, and he lost it to the Ultimate Warrior at
Wrestlemania VI. The Hulkster then regained the title on March 24, 1991 when he defeated Sgt.
Slaughter. His third title reign ended on November 27, 1991, when he lost to the Undertaker, but
regained the title six days later on November 3, 1991 in a rematch against the Undertaker, but the title
was declared vacant. Hogan one his fifth and final WWF Title on April 4, 1993 at Wrestlemania IX
from Yokozuna. Yokozuna had just defeated Bret Hart to win the title in the same night, and Yokozuna's
manager, Mr. Fuji challenged Hogan and Hogan leg dropped him to win in 10 seconds. He then disappeared
from the WWF for a while to film a movie. Hogan lost his last WWF title to Yokozuna on June 13, 1993,
where a ringside photographer blinded Hogan with a flash from the camera, allowing Yokozuna to pin him.

Hogan joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) on June 11, 1994. In his first match in WCW, he
defeated Ric Flair at WCW Bash at the Beach on July 17, 1994 to win the WCW World Heavyweight
Title. He was very popular when he first joined WCW, but his popularity soon declined. Savage entered
the WCW soon after, and Hogan feuded with Ed Leslie (aka Brutus Beefcake, the Butcher, the Disciple)
and Vader. He lost his title to the Giant on October 29, 1995 by disqualification in a title can change by
DQ match. He then was thrust out of the WCW Title picture for a while, while he feuded with the
Taskmaster Kevin Sullivan and the Dungeon of Doom. Hogan then left the WCW for a while to film a
movie and many fans were glad to see him gone. Hogan would return in dramatic fashion at WCW Bash at
the Beach in 1996 during a match between Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and a mystery third man vs. Sting, Lex
Luger, and Randy Savage. Hogan came to the ring, and it seemed as if he were there to help Savage and
Sting, because Luger had been injured earlier in the match and taken out on a stretcher. Hogan leg
dropped Savage, reveiling that he was the mystery third man with Nash and Hall. This leg drop turned
him heel once again and the match ended in DQ after Hogan threw the ref out of the ring. Nash, Hall, and
Hogan then formed the New World Order (nWo). Hulk Hogan then begain calling himself Hollywood
Hogan because he claimed he was a big star in Hollywood. He defeated the Giant for his second WCW
Title on August 10, 1996 at WCW Hog Wild, but this time he spraypainted the letters nWo on the title.
Hogan defeated Savage to retain his title at Halloween Havoc '97, then feuded with Roddy Piper and
lost to him in a nontitle match at Starrcade '96. Hogan faced the Giant at nWo Souled Out PPV in
January '97 and the match ended in a no contest after the nWo stormed the ring. again, then at
SuperBrawl VII in February 1997 finally defeated Roddy Piper after Savage interfered, surprising
everyone by joining the nWo. Hogan feuded with Lex Luger, and lost his title just four days before Road
Wild on August 5, 1997 to Lex Luger only to win it back at Road Wild on August 9, just four days later.
He then begain a feud with Sting, who had returned after a year off, and was the nWo's biggest threat.
He faced Sting at Starrcade on December 28, 1997 in one of the most controversial matches in history.
Hogan leg dropped Sting, and pinned him for the three count, but Bret Hart ran down to the ring
claiming the ref made a fast count. Bret Hart had been made a special referee for another match earlier
in the night. He restarted the match, and Sting won by applying the Scorpion Death Lock to Hogan. But
due to the controversy in the match, the title was held up and Hogan was ordered to face Sting in a
rematch for the title at SuperBrawl VIII on February 22, 1998. Hogan got the leg drop on Sting, but
the ref made an unusually slow count, which Hogan disputed. This cost Hogan the match, because the nWo
ran to the ring and Savage turned on Hogan by hitting him in the head with a spraypaint can, allowing
Sting to make the cover and become WCW Champion. Hogan then feuded with Savage, and faced him at
Uncensored '98 which ended in a no contest. Savage defeated Sting for the title at Spring Stampede
with help from Kevin Nash, but defended it against Hogan the following night on Monday Nitro. Nash
interfered again in this match and it looked as if Savage was going to retain the title, but Bret Hart
shocked everybody by running to the ring and hitting Nash with the title belt, then putting Hogan on top
of Savage to make Hogan win the WCW Title. Savage and Nash then formed the Wolfpac, which feuded
with Hogan's side of the nWo. At Great American Bash '98, a team of Hogan and Bret Hart defeated
Savage and Piper in a tag team match and soon after, nWo Hollywood injured Savage's knee severly and
he has been out since then. Hogan then started a feud with Diamond Dallas Page, but JJ Dillon shocked
everyone and forced Hogan to face the undefeated phenom Bill Goldberg in a title match on July 6,
1998. Hogan was just another one of Goldberg's victims and lost his title. Six days later, a team of
Hogan and Dennis Rodman defeated DDP and Karl Malone at Bash at the Beach PPV with help from the
Disciple. The Hogan-DDP feud heated up more and DDP and talk show host Jay Leno defeated Hogan and
Bischoff at Road Wild in August after Leno's sidekick Kevin Eubanks interfered. Soon after, the
(Ultimate) Warrior came to WCW and Hogan is currently in a feud with him. He defeated Warrior at
Halloween Havoc in October after Hogan's nephew, Horace hit Warrior with a chair and joined the nWo
the next day. Then early in November, when former wrestler, Jess Ventura won the election to become
to governor of Minnesota, Hogan announced his candicity for the President of the USA. Then Hogan
shocked the world by appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thanksgiving night to officially
announce his retirement from wrestling, so he can concentrate more on becoming the President. Hogan
returned for the January 4, 1999 edition of Monday Nitro live from the Georgia Dome. He fought in his
"retirement" match against Kevin Nash for the WCW title. Nash took the fall for Hogan, reuniting the
NWO. The new Wolfpac showed their power early on, but soon they began to get boring. Hogan faced
off against Ric Flair at SuperBrawl IX in February and won with help from David Flair. Hogan and Flair
had a rematch at Uncensored in March, and this wasn't just any rematch. It was not only for the WCW
title, it was a barb wire steel cage, first blood match with some special stips. If Hogan won, Flair must
retire from wrestling permanently, if Flair won, he would be WCW President 4 life. During this match
we saw a double switch, where Hogan turned face and Hulked Up for the first time in years, and Flair
turned heel. Flair won the title in a major screwjob. It was supposed to be first blood, and Flair broke
blood first. Soon after, Hogan started to bleed. Referee Charles Robinson would not count for Hogan
when he made a cover on Flair, but after Flair knocked Hogan out with a tire iron, he counted for Flair,
making him the champ in a huge screwjob. Hogan continued as a face "Hollywood" until Spring Stampede,
when his knee was injured courtesy of DDP. Hogan returned to the ring on Nitro on 7/12/99 to face off
against the newly crowned champion, Randy Savage. With help from Kevin Nash, he won the title. Nash
then turned around and challenged Hogan for a match for the belt, and the match was set for Road Wild
99.

In December of 1979 Sterling Golden defeated Bob Roop to capture the NWA South Eastern Heavyweight Title.
During January 1980 Golden dropped the title to Bob Armstrong.

Hogan defeated Antonio Inoki in a tournament final for the vacant IWPG Heavyweight Title, June 2, 1983.
Inoki ended Hogan's regain, June 14, 1984.

Hogan defeated the Iron Sheik on January 23, 1984, to gain possesion of the WWF World Title.
Andre the Giant ended Hogan's regain, February 5, 1988.

At WrestleMania V, Hulk defeated Randy Savage to capture the WWF World Title for a second time, April 2, 1989.
The Ultimate Warrior ended Hogan's regain at WrestleMania VI, April 1, 1990.

Hulk Hogan defeated Sgt. Slaughter at WrestleMania VII, March 24, 1991, to gain possesion of the WWF World Title.
The Undertaker ended Hogan's regain at Survivor Series 1999, November 27.

Hogan retained the WWF World Title from the Undertaker at Tuesday in Texas, December 3, 1991.
A few days later the title was declared vacant due to they way Hogan won the match.

For the fifth time Hogan won the WWF World Title by defeating Yokozuna at WrestleMania IX in 23 seconds, April 4,
1993.
At King of the Ring 1993, June 13, Yokozuna ended Hogan's regain.

Hulk Hogan defeated Ric Flair at Bash at the Beach, July 17, 1994, to win the WCW World Title.
The Giant defeated Hogan by disqualification at Halloween Havoc, October 29, 1995, and due to contract stipulations
the title changed hands even if the match was won by disqualification.

Hollywood Hogan defeated the Giant at Hogg Wild, August 10, 1996 to lift the WCW World Title for a second time.
Lex Luger won the title at Nitro, August 4, 1997.

Hogan regained the title five days later at Hogg Wild from Luger, August 9, 1997.
Sting defeated Hogan at Starrcade, December 28, 1997.

Hollywood defeated Randy Savage at Nitro, April 20, 1998, to win the WCW World Title.
Goldberg ended Hogan's regain at Nitro, July 6, 1998.

Hogan won the WCW World Title for the fifth time when he defeated Kevin Nash in a joke match, Nitro, January 4,
1999.
Ric Flair ended the regain at Uncensored March 14, 1999, in what was supposed to be a First Blood Cage Match, but
ended with Hogan being counted out in the figure four leglock.

On Nitro, July 12, 1999, Hogan made his return to the ring after a knee injury and defeated Randy Savage to win the
WCW World Title.
At Fall Brawl, September 12, 1999, Sting ended Hogan's regain.
