I have evaluated the
polls and strength of schedule
probabilities. I believe that
Tennessee edges Florida by about 3/4 of a
point if Nebraska and Virginia Tech both
lose. Based on the computer polls,
I don't think Texas or Wisconsin can
overtake us, even if Texas wins
out. Here is my BCS final look:

Henry has career day in Vols rout
of 'Cats

Henry, filling in for injured Jamal Lewis, ran
for 179 yards and a career-high three touchdowns
as No. 7 Tennessee routed Kentucky 56-21
Saturday.
It was the Volunteers' 15th straight win over
their border-state rival and the fourth straight
in which they have scored more than 50 points
against the Wildcats.
One week after a 28-24 loss at Arkansas ended
their national title hopes, Tennessee (8-2, 5-2
SEC) returned to form against Kentucky (6-5,
4-4), which is eligible for a bowl bid but not
guaranteed to get one.

The Big Orange Riflemen
take their anti-aircraft equipment and
set up shop at the Commonwealth in
Lexington to see if they can shoot down
Hal Mumme's Air Crew and off-hand I
believe they will. The Vols are
like Luckie Strike cigarettes, long,
round, and fully packed and easy on the
draw, so I guess that says it all.

 Tee Martin, the veteran
senior quarterback, increased his personal
won-lost record to 20-1 as he hooked up on enough
big plays for the fourth-ranked Volunteers to
swat down feisty and 24th-ranked Notre Dame, and
with more ease than the 38-14 final would
indicate.
The Vols opened the scoring rather early,
capitalizing on a 24-yard interception return by
linebacker Raynoch Thompson to the Notre Dame 14.
They didn't get the touchdown, but did break the
ice with a 24-yard field goal from Alex Walls.
 That's the
way the first quarter ended after Walls had a
26-yard field goal blocked with 4:07 to play and
Notre Dame's David Miller misfired wide right on
a 25-yarder with 33 seconds left.
UT took the ball 80 yards rather early in the
second period with Martin's 21-yard pass to
Stallworth just over three minutes into the
second quarter

VOLS BEAT 'BAMA FOR 5TH STRAIGHT TIME
 TUSCALOOSA,
Ala. -- Fifth-ranked Tennessee was looking to
keep itself in the thick of the national
championship hunt Saturday at Alabama. The Vols
came through with a strong second-half
performance, bumping the latest top 10 arrival
back down among the also-rans.
The Volunteers broke from a
7-all halftime deadlock behind senior quarterback
Tee Martin. The Big Orange scored in each of the
final two quarters to post a 21-7 victory over
their longtime Southeastern Conference rival. The
win came before a state-record crowd of 86,869
fans who were piqued by sunny skies, temperatures
that dropped into the low 50s and a blustery
breeze.

to NFL? Tennessee
tailback Jamal Lewis
indicated he'll probably
forgo his senior season
if he's projected as one
of the top five picks of
the upcoming NFL draft.
"If
you've got the potential
to come out and go in the
top five, or something
like that, it's
reasonable," said
Lewis, who was featured
in Sports Illustrated as
one of the top 10 players
the NFL wants. "If
I'm ready, mentally and
physically, that's the
big factor. But if I'm
not ready, I'm not going
to leave. I'm not going
to leave just because of
money."
Lewis
said he'll likely return
to UT if he's projected
as a late first-round
pick.
