The only really famous person ever to emerge
from Vimmerby that I know
of, so far, is Astrid Lindgren, author of children's books and the
reason Vimmerby every summer gets descended upon by hoards of German tourists.
"Astrid Lindgrens World" the local theme-park,
is about a big a tourist-trap as can be found anywhere but this influx
of foreigners tends to liven the place up and make it quite a pleasant
little town in the summer.
