Skenninge Hash 1999
In 1999, the memories of the poor summer of 98 were erased. The summer of 99 was magnificent! The Skenninge Hash took place on the 7th of August. Because of another event, arranged the same day, a lot of potential runners failed to show up. Instead they chose to spend the 7th (and 8th) of August running 80 kilometres (40 if they happened to be ladies) carrying a rucksack with everything they needed (tent, sleepingbag, food but no beer.) through very hilly terrain in the vicinity of Vimmerby!!??! This meant that the number of runners dwindled to....4! Major drawback! Two of the cornerstones of the Vimmerby Hash, K9 and Loaded, couldn't make it. K9 because he ran the rucksack race and Loaded because he arranged it!
The number of walkers was about the same as always though, and for the first time we had managed to lure a Stockholm Hasher down to Vimmerby.
Later on in the evening, just as last year, the annual Barn Dance took place. No-one behaved and the world saw a new astounding record in the Down-Down competition: Christophe, just turned 18, downed his beer in 4.38 seconds!!! For some more pictures, click here!
