    •     The epic story of The Skenninge Hash, arranged by VH3, started way back in November of 1985 when Meatball did his first ever Hash with the Big D in Dallas, Texas. Approximately six years later, in the late summer of 1991, Vimmerby HHH was formed. Apparently, we're the second oldest Hash in Sweden. Skenninge Hash #1 was arranged on the 17th of August and approximately 40 people showed up. None of them did any running except the hare!
    • A year later, Skenninge Hash #2 took place and attracted approx. 30 of participants. Still no runners!
    • In August of 1993 the inhabitants of Vimmerby were eagerly awaiting Skenninge Hash #3 but alas, they waited in vain as Meatball had fled the country and taken refuge Down Under. 1993: CANCELLED!
    • In 1994 we were back in style. For Skenninge Hash #3 we had glorious weather and approximately 50 participants out of which six were actually running!! At last a bit of progress. Regrettably, most of those runners were of the kind that run a marathon in sub-three-hours, a fact that somewhat intimidated other potential hashers. In spite of assurances that "you don't have to be a marathon runner to do a Hash" many participants still today choose to walk instead of run, possibly because of this false first impression.
    • In 1995, for Skenninge Hash #4, we had somehow angered Frey, the weather-god, which meant lots of rain and only about 25 participants. 5 runners.
    • In 1996, just in time for Skenninge Hash #5, we were finally starting to get a bit organised having decided on arranging the Hash on a fixed date every year, the first Saturday of August, and getting a "5th annual Skenninge Hash" commemorative t-shirt printed. The weather was superb, the number of participants was approx. 55 out of which 7 were running. On top of that we were sponsored by our local brewery, Åbro.
    • In 1997, Skenninge Hash #6 took us one more step up having girls running as well. It did take quite a bit of coaxing but it paid off. Now even some of the slower guys might decide to give it a try since "even the girls could do it". There were about 60 of us with ten runners. A generic VH3 t-shirt (with the logo seen at the top of the page) was made available.
    • In 1998 we had one of our worst summers ever. Lots of rain and just a few warm days. I had my doubts about the weather for the day of the Hash but the Gods were clement and the rain stayed away.We were about 60  people/ten runners, in other words, pretty much like last year. The one major difference was what took place in the evening, after the run. Most people stayed on and a few more arrived for the annual barn-dance. It used to be a separate event but this year we decided to do a combination.

    • Apart from that, the hashing year of 1998 can be remembered for two more things.
      1. We clinched an ongoing sponsor deal with Åbro, our local brewery and the pride and joy of every true Vimmerby resident.
      2. We had our first extracurricular run, The Vimmerby November Hash.
