Themba

Hi ! My name is Themba Justice Clarke. A mouthful you think ? Not really. Themba is pronounced Temba, which is a South African word from the Xhosa tribe that means Hope. Mum and Dad say I can call myself Tem when I'm bigger, if I want to.

I was born on March 1st at 12.15am in the morning. Mum tried pushing me out in February, but she didn't quite succeed, so, I'm sharing my birthday with my 9 year old cousin Tom which he is really excited about ! I was a week overdue and Mum asked to be induced because she was scared I would be huge like my Dad. She was only in labour for 3 1/4 hrs and courtesy of an epidural actually really enjoyed giving birth to me. When I came out I rOARed like a little lion and then I had a nice big drink. Mum says it was the most incredible moment of her life. They brought me home when I was 12 hours old, and 7 lb 9 oz - not a huge baby after all = long + lean with big feet, brown eyes and piles of dark curly hair. I'm now 3 1/2 weeks old.

I love when Dad rocks me to music and sings to me. I love Mum's cuddles and kisses, I love baths and lying in my baby gym with my nappies off. Sometimes I don't love bed time, but, most of the time I'm really good : I sleep really well at night. Mum only has to feed me once around 2 or 3 am. I have a grumpy time mid to late afternoon, and, Dad takes me for a walk in the front pack which I really like.

Mum and Dad are good, they both found parenthood a little scary to start off with, but, now we have all got used to each other and I know they love me very much. The photos [Click here] are ones from my first week out of Mum's tummy - taken before I broke out in spots !!!!!

Anyway, that's all for now, take care,

love, Themba
