Welcome to Laeric's Lair
Greetings travelers, My name is Charles Barnett Jr. , in these parts I am also known as Laeric, this is my domain. I wish you to feel welcome during your stay and to find enjoyment and richness in these pages.
I am a born again Christian being born the second time through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in in the year 1987. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that he came to earth in the flesh, walked among men went about doing good and healing all those who were oppressed of the devil, I also believe that he died on the cross for my sins and for the sins of the whole world that we inherited through the first sin of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and that we have committed since that day. I also believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, he, being the author of life, death was unable to hold him in the grave and by his life, death and ressurection he opened up the way into Heaven forever for you and me.
Having said this you are probably now wondering whay I have chosen to call myself Laeric. That is because Laeric is a fantasy name, and I am a member of a growing number of Christians who find enjoyment in role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Alternity and The Marvel Super Heroes Adventure Game among others. Some have in the past expressed the opinion (rather strongly at times) that these games (especially Dungeons and Dragons) are evil, that they are the work of the devil and should not be enjoyed by anyone least of all Christians.
However I believe as do a growing number of Christian gamers that these games are not intrinsically evil but what makes any game or any work of fiction evil or good is the content of that game or work of fiction.
I have rambled on enough for now though, later I plan to have essays and articles supporting the opinions that I have brought forth in this introduction, but for now enjoy the links that I have provided on this page and come back frequently in order to find new information concerning Christianity and role playing.

After a long period of inactivity I am finally updating, I am removing some dead links and updating others hopefully I will make this a better place for all travellers who come to warm at my hearth.

Christian Gamers Guild (CGG) This site is run by Christian gamers, there is a mailing list and lots of cool stuff check it out!
Alternity - The Light House This is a very cool and well done site for the TSR/WotC science fiction role playing game Alternity.
Zan's Super Home Cool Site for the old classic Marvel Super Heroes role playing game and a whole lot more. If you like super hero gaming at all this is the best site I have found on the web, it is updated regularly and has tons of content including some downloadable goodies. To top it all off the site is very nice to look at but doesn't take an eternity to load.
Guardians Of Order This is the site of the creators of what I believe to be a really cool RPG called Big Eyes, Small Mouth. BESM is a generic anime RPG, however I have read the rules and they can be used for much more than just anime gaming. If you like a rules lite system that is easy to learn and play then point your browser to this site, best of all the core book is the least expensive RPG book I have bought in a long time.
Open Letter Check out this Open letter concerning the villification of fantasy. It is a must read for Christians and gamers everywhere. The author is Derek White, White is a Christian, a gamer, an educated man, and somewhat of a theologian.
